The attack on Pearl Harbor occurred on the 7th of December 1941. The Pearl Harbor is also known for the battle at Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is situated in Hawaii on the Island of Oahu. During the world war Hawaii wasn't a state it was actually US territory. Yet Pearl Harbor is known for a historical event. On the 7th of day Japanese planes undertook a surprise attack on the U.S Navy in Pearl Harbor. Because the U.S. Navy wasn't exactly prepared many soldiers died in the process and the Japanese destroyed many ships. The Japanese actually attacked for the simple reason that they wanted to take over many parts of Asia and they didn't want America to stand in their way so they decided to go to Pearl Harbor and remove the U.S. War ships, the navy would be crippled and …show more content…

The American sailors fought back the best they could. There was also a fleet of submarines that was part of the Japanese attack and they dropped deadly torpedoes in the Pearl Harbor waters. The Japanese released actual bombs on Pearl Harbor to destroy the ships. And this was only the second wave. They went on for about 2 hours and they sunk 21 of the 96 American ships were sunk and the others were damaged. Of the 394 American planes 188 were destroyed. The death total was exactly 2403 and 1178 of the American people there were injured, nurses and doctors tried their best to help as many people as possible, though people were coming in at the hundreds and it was hard to help all of them with limited resources and help. Also In the process 8 battleships where destroyed all from Pearl Harbor. The Japanese didn't have as much damage as the Americans did though they only lost 29 planes and a few submarines. As much as the Japanese thought they had a great plan they didn't really because most if the aircraft carriers were not in port at the time, they were out at sea. And the aircraft carrier was the most dominant ship in the seas. By not sinking those ships the Japanese actually left the large fleet
