To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a novel about a girl named Scout and her family during the course of three summers. The story takes place in Alabama in the 1930s during the Great Depression and segregation. Scout’s father Atticus defends a black man named Tom in a rape case against a white woman, Mayella Ewell. Tom’s character teaches us readers about courage in many ways. He displays real courage by speaking his mind while in court.
In the book to kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the story shows the meaning of true courage between characters. One example in the book ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ shows Atticus shooting the rabid dog in Chapter 10. Atticus hasn’t shot a gun in many years, but when Atticus gets a call from Calpurnia he rushes home to see for himself. Heck Tate states that he isn’t a great shot and that, that dog needed to be put down swiftly. Atticus takes the gun and within one good look, shoots the dog and ends the life of a struggling, out of control dog.
Most people try to have good morals, adults trying to raise kids are a perfect example. That's exactly what Atticus is doing in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. There are many instances where Atticus is showing extraordinary morals for himself and his family. Some would be dealing with hate the right way, another would be representing a black man in a time where segregation is very alive, lastly is making sure his family is religious. Its very clear that all of these traits/morlas are extremely important to Atticus. The first one to talk about is how Atticus deals with all the hate.
The first reason for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson is Atticus believes in intergrity. When Atticus is grist introduced in the novel ' To Kill A Mockingbird' Atticus is described as someone with intergrity. " Atticus the twin lawyer, tries to do what's best for his clients even if they don't listen to him." Atticus tries to have the best interest of others at heart. Many people In the town of Maycomb don't agree with Atticus and him taking on the case.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird there are many different types of people. Including people that show courage, boldness, growing up, also people who were killed trying to get out of prison which they shouldn’t even have been there and were only there because a little girl could not tell the TRUTH, and other people that show intelligence. We are going to be talking about one of the people that showed courage Atticus Finch. Now see Atticus Finch was a good man who although got criticised openly he was actually well respected in the town of maycomb. Now you see he was criticised because he was trying to free a man from going to prison for something he did not do.
Even though Some people, like Aunt Alexandra thinks Atticus is raising scout wrong because she doesn't like to wear girly clothes. Atticus acts like a teacher to his children, he teaches them wondrous things. Atticus punishes his kids when the deserve it. Jem and Scout are shown to be respectful and treat people the same.
A Well Respected Man Atticus is a well respected man throughout the town of Maycomb. Although criticized openly he still continued to do the right thing for others People admired him for so many reasons. Three reasons he was an admirable person was one he was compassionate to others, he was caring, and finally he was brave. In the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” Atticus is well respected.
In Lee Harper’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus is teaching his kids that violence is not the answer and your battles should be fought mentally with your mind, not physically. Atticus is also trying to get his kids to value knowledge and wisdom, so they may use it to sort out any type of conflict. Atticus believes that violence is never justified, and any battle can be won if one is wise and respects everyone. A person’s mental capabilities are critical to fighting a battle without physical engagement.
True Courage-To Kill A Mockingbird Steve Maraboli once said, “It takes bravery to recognize where in your life you are your own poison… it takes courage to do something about it.” The two words, bravery, and courage are often used interchangeably. Although they both refer to dauntlessness and intrepidity, further examination of their meanings reveals that, contrary to popular belief, they are not synonyms. Bravery refers to the ability to fearlessly confront a dangerous or difficult task while courage has the more complicated meaning of being able to preserve through overwhelming situations despite being engulfed by fear. Courage, unlike bravery, is not feeling more powerful than the obstacle one is facing rather it is the force that allows an individual to continue
Mayella’s father named Mr.Ewell is not received by the time Atticus attitude in court, despite the problems it has ended with the death of Tom, still do not receive even avenge secretly to Atticus, even his family, Judge Taylor, and Tom 's wife. Mr.Ewell ever spit on Atticus’s face and made Scout and Jem must restrain their anger. All of these problems end with death Mr.Ewell. He fell and impaled by a knife clutched himself to kill Jem and Scout. When it jem injured, still in his costume Scout survived a puncture in the dark.
