Abstract: In simple terms augmented reality is nothing but digital information lying on top of live view of real world. The main goal of augmented reality is to create a system wherein user should not be able to differentiate between the real world and virtual augmentation to it. This paper helps readers to get a complete idea of what exactly augmented reality is, as it focuses on describing its working, components used for augmented reality, some of its applications. At the same time use of AR in the field of Business Intelligence have been suggested, which can be used as an enhancement in an area of Business Intelligence.
Keywords: Augmented Reality, AR Applications, Virtual Reality, Business Intelligence.
I. INTRODUCTION The term augmented reality was first coined by Tom Caudell, a former researcher at Boeing’s Computer Services for understanding

The paper aims to present an overview of augmented reality along with it an idea suggesting the use of augmented reality in the field of Business Intelligence (BI). The paper emphasizes more on the theoretical view of augmented reality rather the implementation which is a drawback as no experiments have been carried out, so the reader of the paper will be able understand what exactly augmented reality which might help him/her to come up with his/her own new idea.
The paper is organized as follows: section [II] shows related work and methodology. Section [III] shows augmented reality vs. virtual reality. Section [IV] lists and describes the components used in augmented reality. Section [V] shows the working of augmented reality. Section [VI] is the one which gives an overview of some of its applications. Section [VII] discusses the suggestion that have been given regarding the use of AR in the enhancement of business intelligence. Section [VIII] which is last section summarizes the
In 2003 ARToolKit to the PocketPC was developed, the first fully self-contained PDA AR application. This platform was used in a peer to peer game. Möhring et al. were the first to successfully target a consumer smartphone for mobile AR. The scarce processing power of the target platform allowed only a very coarse estimation of the object's pose on the screen.
In the article, “The Craftsmen’s Spectacle: Labour Day Parades in Canada, the Early Years,” by Craig Heron and Steve Penfold, the main topic was about the changes during the first and second industrial revolution in regards to the structure of the Labor Day celebrations and what that meant toward the workers’ movement itself. Throughout the article, Heron and Penfold discuss the importance of the parade procession on the national holiday and what certain symbols, banners, uniforms, and events meant toward the workers’ movement and what they strove to prove to the public. The creation of Labor Day was to be a celebratory holiday for workers’ movements throughout North America, to publically show solidarity together over the importance of wage-earners
Nicholas Carr’s article titled Is Google Making us Stupid was written to deliver an urgent message to the reader. Carr’s purpose for writing this article was to inform the masses of the potential dangers in how new technologies change the ways our minds work. He is trying to warn us how writing has reduced our capability to remember details in our heads, just like the internet has been able to change the way our brains store, acquire, and handle information. The author makes the argument that Carr makes a reference to the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey. In his reference he tells the reader about the HAL computer who uncannily perfectly expresses human emotion, as it shares its concern that its data banks and artificial brain is being shut down
Business Card The business card for Henry and his regiment shows just how inexperienced he is. With so few battles that he has fought back in, his regiment was used for dangerous suicide missions like we saw in the second to last battles Henry was a part of. This creates a split of views between Henry's regiment and the generals. As Henry's regiment sees it they have fought hard; however, from the generals point of view their regiment sacrifices don't add up to other more experienced regiments.
In my opinion, the most dominant type of conflict found in the dystopian novel City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau is Person Versus Technology. There are many examples in the book that show this category of conflict. Both of the main characters, Lina and Doon, are part of some conflict that falls into this category. Perhaps the most important conflict that falls into this category is that supplies, like light bulbs, are running out in Ember. For example, when Lina visits Lizzie at the Supply Depot, she overhears conversation in which when shopkeepers asked for items, the clerks would say, “‘Sorry,’ ...
Rhetorical Analysis Writer have different way of getting their point across, like in the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid? By Nicholas Carr. He makes an argument that google is a convenient tools and is making us less able to process deep information. He use ethos, pathos, logos and tone to prove his ideas. Carr want the audience to feel a connection to his article.
Images can be deceiving and have a direct purpose intended by the creator. Knowing the purpose and goal behind the image will help us to see how it is being used to persuade the viewer. Virtual analysis gives us the ability to see what is beyond the image displayed. We can try to interpret and breakdown the content. An example of how analysis is useful is a detective in a murder investigation between a husband and wife. .
2. Identify problems that businesses in the case study solved by using mobile digital devices. GE Corporation used the digital devices to monitor and manage their gas turbine inventory and electronic transformers throughout the world with the ability to zoom in from a global map to a specific
In spite of the indifference, Virtual Reality has awoken the world in giant ways. Society should not stay doubtful of the countless possibilities it has to bring in an optimistic and technological way. Recently, in order to describe something that holds spirit and effect without having form, but having an effect on the actual, the word ‘virtual’ was used. Virtual reality is developing all the time and has found hitches not formerly considered. Applications of Virtual reality are starting to find their way into normal society.
But the tech world knows where its heading. In an interview with Wall Street Journal editor in chief Gerard Baker, Satya Nadella the CEO of Microsoft said “The ultimate computer for me is the mixed reality. You see the world and in the world, you see virtual objects and holograms” referring to the new Microsoft Hololens which is a one of its kind mixed reality device. 2. Apple is also not far behind in mixed reality, in an interview with the Independent editor David Phelan, the CEO of Apple Tim Cook said “Augmented reality could be the next big thing after smartphones”.
Literature Review “Children know how to learn in more ways than we know how to teach them.” —Ronald Edmonds (1991) Each child learns in a different way, therefore if teachers are mainly focused on instructing the majority auditory/visual learners; the students who have different learning styles needs aren’t being met, which results in lack of basic skills moving forward. The idea of one instructional strategy fitting all is creating a void in classrooms; which in turn is failing to help those students struggling the most. Campbell, Helf, and Cooke, (2008) suggests a reason for some students’ ongoing lack of achievements that, “too often, students are instructed indirectly, watching and listening to the teacher or other students with little or no opportunity to actually read” (p. 268).
Whether it’s a mundane or practical application like instructions in a piece of equipment or medical information of a patient or something more a little complex like taking situational awareness information presenting it to a soldier or to a police men, augmented reality seems to have such a great advance impact in technology and has become an important aspect of
2.4 Experiential Architecture Sensorial Experiences While the importance of a sensory rich environment is obvious to most, in contemporary designs, attention to the senses is usually limited to sacred spaces. While they play just as important a role in everyday spaces, they are often left out of design considerations. Touch, smell, and other sensations are key in what we call experience. They are the receptors with which we move through and understand space.
Virtual Reality its use in education, culture and the Impact on Society Abstract The aims and objectives, of this paper, are to discuss Virtual reality (VR), and its profound usage within educational systems. It will be supported by different research evidence which speak to the application of such. It is underscored by literature reviews and intends to enumerate the potential advantages of implementation within the Caribbean.
Virtual Reality is the buzz around these days. A very common question these days is "What is Virtual Reality?" Virtual Reality also known as VR is a three-dimensional computer generated environment experience in which the user can interact with the surroundings. This interaction is known as "telepresence" and it is this interaction that makes it unique. In other words, it is an environment created with special electronic equipment, which a user feels he is a part of without actually being there.
