They wanted to live in a world where everyone was taken into consideration, not just the elite and those in power with a primary vendeta of personal gain. All they wanted was the acknowledgement that they existed too, that they mattered too. Under a nation that stands for equality, it is important that everyone, no matter their differences, are recognized and respected. People feared the sidewalk creatures. When people disobey the law, they are just not disobeying something that was written on paper, but they are disrespecting the people who took time out of their lives to make the laws. Each law was designed to keep each person safe, so the least we can do as citizens are to obey those laws and hold each other accountable for following the laws. Finally, I should submit to laws because it makes our law enforcement jobs safer and easier. After all, as a sociologist, we need to realize that oppression needs a solution, specifically powerlessness and violence because it still occurs today. People should feel that they have the resources and opportunities to succeed. Also, they are able to voice their own opinions at school, work, and surroundings without been seen as an inferior. Dominant groups or professionals should allow more privileges to the powerless group and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills overtime. It is also essential that school and jobs can teach a powerless individual to become powerful and have the right to be respected at all times.

For Lindsey she needs psychological help and realization of why she steals, because she comes from a high income household she does not steal for means of survival. Her father needs to be actively and positive involvement in her restorative justice process in order for it to be completely successful. Lindsey needs to be educated on her crimes and what are the possibilities if she doesn’t go down that route. Since Lindsey has a passion she needs to embraced it into her program and the program needs to included possible connections to he passion in order to created a stake of conformity. Is the American Jury System still a Good Idea? In the American Judicial System today, there is a choice between trial by jury or bench trial. Trial by jury is used today by selecting jurors from pools of people who are eligible, adult American citizens. Trial by jury is often controversial because of how the jurors are not professionals whereas in a bench trial, a judge is highly educated in law (Doc B).

A grand jury is composed of twelve people, to determine if there is enough evidence to send an accused individual to trial. Although they may not determine if the accused individual is guilty or not, they can issue a formal document saying there is enough evidence for the prosecutor to take the accused to trial also known as an indictment. According to, Texas Politics Today, “a grand jury may return indictments simply because the district attorney asks them to.” Which in the end is not fair, because the jury may believe that there is not enough sufficient evidence, but because they feel pressured they issue an indictment.
