B-ball is a game played by two groups of five players on a rectangular court. For instance, Don Haskins decided to use black players instead of white players. “I was simply playing the best players on the team, and they just happened to be black” (Don Haskins). Don Haskins knew that the south would not be happy with his decision, but he did what he thought was best for the game, which exemplifies that Don took risks. Also, Don broke color barriers in college sports.

Hunter College author, Pamela Wonsek in her journal, “College basketball on television: a study of racism in the media”, believes that the media plays a role in racial stereotypes and maintaining the dominance of white culture. She supports her claim first by explaining the stereotypes the white culture have made about African American, then she says, ‘since the entire coaching staff for men’s basketball is traditionally male, the paradigmatic choices are black or white… the overall image is white” (Wonsek 453). Displaying that even if the team was majority consisted of African Americans, but during a sport game most the people are whites, and finally African American are overrepresented in sports advertisements. Wonsek’s purpose is to reveal to audience the media portray young African American as an athlete only. She adopts an objective tone to show the intended audience on how African American’s are being portrayed by the media.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Blugolds.com)- The No. 21 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men’s basketball team is off to their best start since the 1999-00 season where the team started off 10-0. Eau Claire gained their fifth win of the season Friday night after defeating Rhodes College (Tenn.) 120-94 at the 33rd annual Lopata Classic hosted by Washington University (Mo.). Eau Claire had a tough test coming into the opening game of the tournament, taking on the Lynx who averaged the third most points in the country. The Blugolds were able to play at the tempo of Rhodes College, but still played solid defense.

College basketball is so much more interesting than NBA basketball, but in the NBA the stadiums are bigger so more people come. People don't realize how lazy players are in the NBA. College basketball is so much more interesting than NBA because they try harder in games, they rebound, which leads to big things, and there has been more money spent on March Madness than any other tournament in college basketball.

Exactlly 100 years later five freshman basketball players from Michigan University gave basketball a new meaning and style that is still in effect today. For this project a metric would be used to predict who was going to win the 2017 March Madness Tournament. The metric consists of a team’s RPI and two stats that have a strong correlation coefficient to how the teams finished in the 2016 tournament. The Rating Percentage Index (RPI)is a ranking system that is used to determine a team 's rank in the tournament and during the regular season. The two stats had to have a moderate correlation to how the last 16 teams in the 2016 tournament finished. Also a scatter plot was used to display two different stats and how they correlated.
