‘’Baseball was, is and always will be to me the best game in the world.’’ These words, spoken by the great Babe Ruth, show that his love for the game of Baseball was incredible and nobody will ever love baseball as much as he did. Babe Ruth impacted the citizens of the United States because he saved the game of baseball after the 1919 black Sox scandal, took a position with the ford motor company to help with its junior baseball program, he reached his peak in 1927 when he hit 60 home runs a season record that still stands.
George Herman Ruth was born in Baltimore on February 6, 1895. His father placed him St. Mary 's industrial schools when he was 7. He learned how to play baseball in 1914. Ruth began playing for the Baltimore Orleans international league, Ruth in his first season only made 600 dollars. In 1925 he was suspended for ¨misconduct¨ off the grass. As he grew older, his body became too heavy for his slender legs in 1935 after 15 years with the yankees, he joined the Boston Braves as a playing vice president. Before the season ended the upset ruth laid down his bat for final time, he ended his career as a coach for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

After Jackie attended John Muir High School in California, he went on to the University of California, Los Angeles to pursue basketball, track, baseball and football. All those sports he did extremely well in.
However, Babe found love again and married Claire Hodgson also in 1925, and with Claire he adopted Julia and Dorothy(“Babe”). Eventually, he was traded to the Yankees.and in 1926. He started a dynasty on the Yankees, and helped them win seven pennants, and four World Series. He also made a record of a total of 714 home runs. On the Yankees, he was a full time outfielder, and was the greatest hitter who ever played.
Jackie Robinson was someone who changed and impacted baseball history. On April 15th 1947, he became the first African American player in the major leagues, signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He faced racial abuse and harassment throughout his career but put it aside and showed everyone how talented he really was. Robinson was named Rookie of the Year in 1947, a World Series champion in 1955, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. He became the vocal champion for African American athletes and civil rights.
After a long and accomplished life, Jackie Robinson passed away in 1942 a little over a week after his toss at the world series. Robinson collapsed in his home and died later that day, at Robinson's funeral there were over 2,500 people from everywhere around the country who honored and looked up to Robinson. Robinson had a remarkable life that impacted all the people around him. Jackie Robinson is most known for his outstanding achievements in baseball, but what most people don't know is his achievements in all other aspects of life. Jackie was harassed, picked on, and beaten up for playing the game he loved; Robinson did what he did because he believed that life was bigger than the color of your skin or the number on your back.
The 1920’s were a very exciting and well remembered time era for the changes the way sports are played today. During this time period watching as well as playing sports became much more popular as a method of relaxation or a way to spend some free time having fun, just as it is today. Babe Ruth’s outstanding skill and dedication changed the game of ball since people of all races and colors would watch his games, and was a huge role model to many young kids, giving them a dream to someday become a great player just like him. Babe Ruth’s record setting performances brought a whole new social life to people in the 20’s.
He was a big part in the fight for equal rights. Jackie Robinson took so much abuse on the field because of his race that it gave him mental breakdowns. These breakdowns sometimes took days to recover from but he went through all of that so other people would have better opportunities.
