Does everyone have right to survive? Every family deserves to be happy or not? I think yes. The whole article is about human rights. Most of the employer wish that their employee should not have any criminal record hence they refers those record while hiring people. But this is the hurdle for those who has some criminal record in past. Zoe Melissa Polk is writing this article to show helpfulness of “Ban the box” law. According to her, San Francisco is giving fair rights to all for getting jobs and housing by “Ban the box” law. It is to win the trust of readers. Last but not least Pathos, it gives emotions and sympathetic imagination. It makes the reader think in the same way as the writer. I think it’s most important part as the reader starts thinking like the writer. In this article, the writer is using logos to explain why she think that “San Francisco gives equal chance for the job to everyone” and she explain about “ban the box” law also gives the reason. Zoe first explains the meaning of “Ban the box” law. And she is trying to explain why we should not see first at criminal record of any person in case of job and housing. Using this line “An estimated 70 million people in the United States - nearly one in three adults - have a prior arrest or conviction record….”(Zoe Melissa Polk, 2016 ) She is trying to explain that it's the common thing to have the criminal record in the USA. Furthermore, she asserts that San Francisco is using “Ban the box” law. According to this law, while providing jobs and houses no one will check on the criminal background of that candidate. Hence, in the case of jobs or housing, no one refers criminal record. Its logic to explain that they have solved the problem of housing and job for most of the people. Now she is using another logic that San Francisco have solved the problem for people who has a previous criminal record.
