“On Compassion” by Barbara Lazear Ascher In the essay On Compassion, by Barbara Lazear Ascher examines compassion in the world and where it truly comes from. Ascher first discusses a scenario in which a mother is waiting at the corner of Madison Avenue with her baby waiting for the light to switch as a man continues to approach her.
