The next step is sanding. Leave the bat on the lathe and turn it to and start sanding. This will drastically reduce sanding time. Start with a low grit piece of sanding paper and switch to a higher grit thought-out process. Continue until the highest grit paper has been used. Never start sanding with a high grit paper. For it will not take out any major cuts made in the process, only the smaller ones. Only small-sized grit paper takes out big cuts. As sanding grits get higher, the baseball bat will get smoother and slicker. Finally, comes the painting. Although painting the bat is not required, many people like to paint theirs. The fastest way is to spray paint the bat. Color does not matter, but when spray painting make sure airbrush keeps
