In the video, the activity adaptation that surprised me the most was the wheelchair basketball activity. The participants are so active, going for one place to another chasing the ball. I see this sport physically active and I got impress on the ability, velocity, and dynamic of the participants.
2) Materials, activities, and environment are the three areas of adaptation I noticed the most in the video. One example of adapting material is speed. For example, a basketball wheelchair is more lighter than a regular wheelchair, it doesn 't have breaks, and the wheels don 't have grater angle; all of these adaptations are made to maximize athletic ability, to increase speed, and to facilitate a tight turning radius. An activity can be adapted to facilitate more active participation by individuals with disabilities. An example of activity adaptation for tennis is that the

Discrimination: One of the most devastating constrains to leisure participation experienced by people who have been oppressed is discrimination. As the book says, discrimination is fueled by ignorance. Art was discriminated by many people and many times in the movie; for example, the first time he went to the Pancake House, he ended in the police station just because of his physical appearance;
Value diversity: Diversity must be valued and celebrated focusing on recognizing capacities of people, realizing there is an array of contribution to be made, believing that all people are inherently worthy, and doing one 's best and helping others do the same. Before ADA, people with disabilities were not valued or included, as we saw in the

“We are extremely competitive,” explained Erin, a great hockey player and leader, “But we are a family. That is my favorite part of Philadelphia Power Play.” Philadelphia Power Play is an organization that provides a community based hockey environment for people who use power wheelchairs in their daily lives. The Philadelphia Power Play invites all people from anywhere in Pennsylvania to play hockey several times a year. People come from all over Pennsylvania, some from 4 hours or more away.
The main idea of this entry is about the stereotypes that come along with racism. Also, Brent Staples wants his readers to realize how much colored people sacrifice from their normality in order to fit in with society, in hopes of not being attacked or offended. The author proves this in his entry by mentioning ‘innocent’ behaviors, such as singing Beethoven, that he did in public in order to relief those surrounding him from danger. Moreover, the author compared hikers to the country’s bears in order to provide readers with a valid connection between black and colored people. In addition to that, Brent Staples uses flashback as one of his techniques when sharing with us his encounters with white people, this gives readers an idea of how
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” (King 166). Even though the clergymen believe they are doing the right thing with segregation, they are damaging the community as a whole. King tells a story of a small girl who was not allowed to go to the public amusement park, “…and see ominous clouds of inferiority beginning to form in her little mental sky, and see her beginning to distort her personality by developing and unconscious bitterness towards white people…” (King 169). This story shows injustice and creates pathos.
A dominate view in the film is discrimination against black people in the community and in sports. There has always been discrimination in sports, as state in an article, “Jackie Robinson led the entire nation in rushing yards per attempt, averaging a staggering 12 yards per carry. At the close of his UCLA career in 1941, Robinson participated in the annual All-Star Game, which pitted the nation’s best college players against the NFL’s strongest team.” Jackie Robinson the first African American to play in Major League Baseball was also a strong a player of football. He played in the All-Star Game and went against profession team and still was able to hold his own, but the NFL also had its racial law and didn’t allow him to player and his name was never called in the draft list.
The first pain point of privilege is easy for for me to understand. I am an African American who grew up only going to inner-city public schools, until I went to an all-boys Catholic college prep high school. I understand the perception others can have of students and specifically athletes at schools like Duke. The documentary highlights that glorification of hard work runs deep in American culture. While many people thought Laettner came from a family with a lot of money, he was in fact a member of a lower-middle class working family.
It is also easier to deny the reality when one is fixated on a popular myth that unequal treatments and racism ended. The so-called freedom society talks of in America does not apply to everyone. With the stereotypes formed, portrayed, and passed down, oppression continues in obvious and subtle ways. This film showed the affects the stereotypes have on people. Even with an understanding of history, the audience might find themselves rethinking American history and modern
In the movie, structural inequality is portrayed by the school not giving the team the same access to resources and support as other teams. The structural inequality and discrimination faced by the black players in the school system and community are examples of systematic racism, an ethical subject of significant concern. Herman Boone explains to his players, “I don’t care if you’re black, white, green, blue or orange. I want all of my defensive players on the same damn page! Got it?”
In the film, a jeweler refused to let a black person enter their store because the person was black, male, and perceived as thieves. A person should not be judge by their appearances, anger is something that is expressed but being hurt is not given a voice that will build up inside of a person. “there are very real differences between us of race, age, and sex. But it is not those differences
Discrimination, according to the textbook, is the unequal treatment of various categories of people. (Macionis pg.86) In the movie, when the younger generation and some of the older generation start to turn to color from black and white, the townspeople get angry and can’t accept the change. As a result, they start to hang up signs in the stores saying
The film depicts how individuals from all backgrounds may collaborate to overcome prejudice and discrimination and accomplish shared goals. It also emphasizes
The scene highlights that race shouldn't be a factor in how people are treated by showing Peter being scanned and treated nicely while Cleveland is brutally abused. The idea of colorblindness can be included and crucial for ensuring that people are judged on their character rather than their race. A just and fair society may be created if everyone is treated fairly and without bias. We can put racism behind us and build a more accepting and varied society by recognizing that race is not a factor. It is important to note that the visual text also emphasizes that community of minorities can be targeted surveillance, which can explain some of the disparities between white and minorities incarceration, and that to ensure that everyone is treated equally and fairly, colorblindness could be embraced as a solution to this
One of these flaws is equal rights. African Americans are having difficulties obtaining their own spot. “[Hansberry brings] local, individual struggles of African Americans—against segregation, ghettoization, and capitalist exploitation—to the national stage. (Gordon, 121 and 122)” The play first points out segregation.

Some examples of devices that make use of assistive technology include newly developed computer programs, traffic signals and electric wheelchairs. At the same time, the concept of accessibility also involves the application of adaptive technology which refers to the modification of already existing devices to enable various categories of people such as the disabled to use them in everyday life. For instance, any modifications made to a wheelchair or listening device such as a wheelchair would fall in the realm of adaptive technology.
