Imagine being a soldier in the Revolutionary war and get notice if the newest battle. The Battle of Fort Washington. Ready to fight? This may have been what it was like for the soldiers in 1776, the soldiers were told who was there, the weapons available, and what could happen.The soldiers didn’t know if they would be one of the lucky ones to come out alive. As a result of a disagreement between the Kingdom of Great Britain, and its thirteen colonies in North America, the Battle of Fort Washington began. The battle of Fort Washington was fought in the late 1700s. It was 1776 to be exact during the Revolutionary War. The disagreement was a military conflict between the two. Horses and mules were used to transport goods, weapons, people, and war prisoners. Dogs were also used in the battle. Oddly enough bats also played an important role in the battle. Their droppings were used for black powder. War prisoners are also a given in any war or battle, whether it be today or in 1776. The prisoners could enlist in the opposing side’s army. A plus side to being a prisoner of war was that they could work different jobs to earn money while still being a prisoner. There were many prisoners taken during the battle, along with many other battles during the Revolutionary War. There were so many that both sides of the battle had issues with places to house them. Yellow Fever, Malaria, and Typhus impacted many soldiers. Smallpox was another major one. There was a mass inoculation that went around for smallpox. These diseases were a few that affected many. Not only, was there the Battle of Fort Washington, but there were also twenty-six other battles that also happened in the Revolutionary War. There were twenty-seven total battles. There were thirteen American wins total, that tied with Great Britain’s thirteen wins. There was only one colonel retreat. There were three-thousand total casualties in the Battle of Fort Washington. Both sides suffered great loss. The Americans eventually surrendered and retreated to the Delaware River. In this case, the battle only lasted one day. That day was Saturday, November 16, 1776. With the high number of casualties during the battle, and the Americans retreating to the Delaware River, the British side gained a win in the Revolutionary War. The Americans fought hard losing many soldiers less than the British side sith its own troops and its ally Germany. The Kingdom of Great Britain was able to push through their great loss of soldiers, and win the Battle of Fort
