The Battle of Vicksburg was one of the most crucial points in the Civil War. It helped Eradicate the Rebels/Confederacy once and for all. The Civil War was fought for over 4 years and it lasted from 1861-1865. It was one of the most horrific wars the world has ever known and witnessed. The Civil war was fought over the topic of slavery and the issues it presented, and the injustifications of slavery. The Civil War was one of the longest and hardest wars ever fought. The Siege of Vicksburg was won by Union General Ulysses S. Grant. The Confederate General in the Battle of Vicksburg was John C. Pemberton. Pemberton’s troops made him surrender to Grant because the troops were starving to death (literally) and so he surrendered on July 4th, 1863. This was a major day in history.
The Battle of germantown, October 4, 1777. It was a battle in the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary war. the battle was at Germantown, Pennsylvania. The British forced their way into Pennsylvania defeated the American army under General George Washington. His army failed to pull off his complex plan. The British drove away the Americans. However, despite the losses, the soldiers performed well. Washington 's once-unskilled army was on their way to becoming the well-trained force that would win the war. The battle was Washington 's second loss in less than a month. However, despite the defeat at Germantown, Washington could take solace in the fact that the soldiers of his Continental Army conducted themselves.
The Battle of Yorktown was a military conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in North America during the American Revolutionary War. The Battle of Yorktown took place on Tuesday, October 09, 1781 in Yorktown, Virginia and ended in victory for the American colonists.
I say battles because there were 2, 18 days apart from each other. The first battle as at freeman 's farm, the British, at the outskirts of Saratoga, were surrounded by Americans. The General in charge of the attack realized there were too many colonists, and sent for reinforcements. The reinforcements come 2 weeks later, at Bemis Heights, though, they were too late, as well as surrendered. The british surrendered, and the Americans were astounded. They had one. The battle of Saratoga was a game changer for both the Americans and the British. The battle aided the
The Battle of Valley Forge was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. Although no actual military battle was waged here, George Washington’s Continental Army faced some physical and mental battles of their own in this Pennsylvania town. It was here at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania where the Continental Army Soldiers of the Revolutionary War chose to go after being defeated in the Battle of Germantown in October 1777. During this winter, Washington’s troops came to this encampment to recuperate and train for future battles with the British. The winter of 1777-78 was terribly cold, bitter, and harsh. These conditions made things very difficult for General Washington’s military unit. The unit’s morale and physical strengths were severely tested throughout this challenging and historical time.

The American Revolution on saratoga refers to the period in history in which the Thirteen Colonies that became the United States of America gained independence from the British Empire. There were many battles and tactics against the British that were needed in order to obtain independence from them, including: The battle of Lexington, Bunker Hill, Saratoga, etc. Ultimately, the Americans succeeded in gaining Independence and winning the war. However, victory seemed out of reach for the Americans during the war; the Americans had fewer soldiers and weapons while the British had the most formidable army in the world at the time and flourished in soldiers and weaponry. There are significant reasons why the British lost the war despite having the upper hand in terms of weaponry and soldiers. Some of these include: the British fighting on American land, General Howe’s lack of judgment, and the surrender of Lord Cornwallis and his soldiers.
As soon as George Washington’s famous Delaware River crossing, he and the Continental Army marched into Trenton, New Jersey. This March included horses, guns, wagons, and soldiers. The group stretched for nearly a mile long. They were ready to start a new battle. The Battle of Trenton had many different causes, leaders, events and effects that impacted the Revolutionary War drastically.
The Battle began as a plan by the British to control New York and isolate New England from the Southern colonies and put an end to the Revolution. Which ended as an opportunity for the Patriots. The British had planned to go south from Montreal to Albany, NY by the water route of Lake Champlain, Lake George, and the Hudson River. Then once they were in Albany they would join other British groups from New York and Mohawk
The Battle of Trenton was a significant battle in the American Revolution. The reason for this is General George Washington decided that on December 25, 1776 he and his men would cross the Delaware River and attack the Hessians. Washington tricked and trapped the Hessians by attacking them from behind. Since the battle lasted less than an hour, Washington and his army defeated the Hessians. These are some key points on why the Battle of Trenton was so significant.
Would you leave Valley Forge, I wouldn't. People were sick, but still those who left were cowards. There are many reasons to stay, for example, the illness and death chart, it states that only 50% of people became ill. (document A) As an estimate, 3,989 out of 8,000 people were sick in 1778. Only 1,800 died, that is not very many to die of illness. Another reason to stay would be in the essay by Thomas Paine. It calls those who quit “The summer soldier and the sunshine warrior” , this was because they could not handle the winter, they could only last the summer. It also says “Tyranny, like hell,” this is because leaving is like giving up on your country. ( document D) In the diary
The events leading up to these battles are as important as the battles themselves. The British army had a plan for three armies to meet up in Albany and thereby cut of New England
I participated in the Boston Tea Party and little did I know that in four years I would be freezing at Valley Forge. In 1777, Washington and his soldiers arrived at Valley Forge. The Declaration of Independence helped the Revolutionary War start. In October of 1777, Washington was unable to stop the British from marching into the national capital of Philadelphia. Scarlet fever, is where the girls fall for the British soldiers and their red coats.
Brave, have no fear of someone or something. American soldiers represent bravery. The huts of the soldiers were very long and wide. The fireplace was in acceptable condition. No beds in the huts just straw and mud. I have decided to re-enlist because of inspiration, help from congressmen, and conditions are somewhat good.
