Like most careers; however, you will need to graduate college and complete your test for your license. To start, you will need to find a college or university near you that offers an associates program in Veterinary Technology, complete the steps of enrollment, and begin your classes. Typical programs last as long as two years including your externship. You will be taking classes such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, small and large animal husbandry, animal life science, veterinary medical terminology, etc. You will also be taking the basic college courses offered such as college math, ethics, oral and written communication, and more.
People may think that becoming a vet is a demanding job, but there are those that will and do pursue the career. Such as myself. After comparing Texas A&M, University of California-Davis, and University of Florida based on my criteria of distance, family, and the great community, Texas A&M would be the best choice in helping me pursue my career in animal science. The process will be long and difficult but there is nothing no one can not accomplish if their mind is set to being successful .
I want to become a Veterinary Tech because I love animals and I love taking care of them. I’m a people person and I enjoy working with the public. Recently, I moved into a neighborhood with a lot of elderly neighbors; I started helping them take care of their dogs. I would get up in the morning and walk their dogs before I left for school.
What has most influenced your professional or career aspirations for the future? My aspiration of becoming a Physician Assistant is influenced by society. The health of people in the world is deteriorating. It hurts me to see people fighting cancer, having heart failure, suffering from diabetes, or living with high blood pressure.

Animals have been an important part of my life and hold a special place in my heart. Having a job working with animals would be the perfect way to combine the personal and professional parts of my life. 5The education requirement for a veterinarian assistant is a high school diploma or its equivalent. Most employers will prefer some type of training before working with animals, but many will accept on the job training.
My experiences shaped what I want to be, all of these play on each other like one interconnect experience. A faint memory of my dad's friend explaining his field, and procedures to me went a long way. Even though I just listened to his procedures to be polite, his words become dormant. After some time had passed, I was recommended for braces. The first time I applied I was denied, but the second time I got accepted.

I have always wanted to help others, ever since I was a young girl. I had a dream of growing up and giving others the help that I never received as a child; helping them grow, laugh, and actually live their life to the fullest with a friend behind them one hundred percent. To be honest, I used to want to be a veterinarian until I found out that you had to put the really sick animals to sleep. After that fact came into the picture I changed my mind about becoming an animal doctor. When I was the age of 10-16, I had a really hard time starting out.
My early childhood experiences up to my current college experiences molded me into the person I am today. I’ve acquired strength through my parents divorce, dealing with alcoholic relatives, and going through life’s daily challenges. These tough times allowed for me to mature as a writer and a person.
