Imagine for a moment, a surgeon in the O.R. performing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Their objective is to restore normal blood flow to the heart by grafting a vein or artery from the patient’s chest, leg or arm and bypass the blocked artery to the heart. Sounds simple enough. Oh, one more thing, the grafted artery is 2.8 mm in diameter, and there is certainly no shortage of blood and other bodily fluids obstructing the physicians view. In this situation, a surgeon’s ability to stay laser focused and not take their eyes of the patient is critical.
My academic goals after I graduated from UC Irvine is to achieve a higher education beyond a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences. I have set going to dental school as a primary goal after graduating. My goal is to eventually obtain a D.D.S (Doctor of Dentist Surgery) degree. Working towards a specialty is an interest that I am very curious in pursuing; however, as of now becoming a general dentist is my main goal. Also, I have dreams of owning my own business and building my own brand at the same time. I want clients to understand I care about my business but I care about them as well. By pursuing a career in Kinesiology it will allow me to communicate with people.
Broken bones or raging fevers,The two jobs that I chose to further gain knowledge of is a physician assistant and a physical therapist. As I was doing my research I wanted to see the extent of requirements that each occupation requires while seeing overall which job sounds more appealing to me. As of right now I am leading towards the physician assistant job as I have always been interested more of the prescription medicine side of things. In the future I have to decide whether or not I want to more personally in to the range of motions of people who have been injured, or look in to a more personal connection with the medicine side of things.
Failure is the not the end but it is a process of learning and getting success if you don’t giving up. I remember back in Nepal when my siblings and friends passed their classes but I did not. I felt gloomy because I was the only one who failed. I was crying but my dad did not want me to cry for what I could not do because he wanted me to move forward to achieve success.
I love the one on one aspect of nursing or medicine, which is what I loved about teaching. If I go into medicine, I want to go into osteology. Bones and the way they work is fascinating to me. The way a bone looks like a piece of coral, and the way they break, that’s something I want to study for the rest of my life. I personally have early onset osteoporosis due to my stomach issues, lactose intolerance, and having a history of anorexia nervosa all combine to weaken my bones.
Providing the catalyst, in my dream of becoming a physical therapist, the rehabilitative services I received for my injury, strengthened my resolve to provide the same quality services to others. After completing my rehabilitation I received an offer for employment as a physical therapy assistant. Working as a physical therapy assistant enabled me the opportunity through hands on training and observation to experience the world of a physical therapist and solidify my ambition to pursue a degree in the field of physical
Now that I have my mind set on my aspirations, I hope to practice the qualities needed to be a triumphant dentist and dental surgeon. Of course everyone wants success, wealth, and happiness in the future. My long term goal is to pursue a career in the field of dentistry and earn my DDS (doctorate in dental surgery)
The one thing I would like to do after high school is become an LPN. The reason why I would like to do become an LPN is because I enjoy helping others. Knowing I can support people would make me happy. Taking shots, drawing blood, and taking vital signs would be interesting for me, I think I would enjoy that very much. LPN’s have several duties they need to do.
Becoming an occupational therapist is my passion and my long-term career goal. Since a young age I have been incredibly inspired and motivated to befriend and help disabled individuals. Having grown up with a disabled mother who benefited from the services of occupational therapy I had the opportunity to see first hand how the experience gave can give individuals like her fulfilling and productive lives. With both parents working as healthcare professionals, including my mother who is now an occupational therapist herself, I see every day how rewarding the field is. Through my life I have had unique personal, professional and educational experiences that have shaped me into a strong candidate for an advanced education in occupational therapy.
I have chosen to get my Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Kaplan University, because of the high demand in the healthcare profession. As a Healthcare Administrator, I am required to have strong communication skills and leadership ability. Being an administrator I must be able to make decisions and delegate authority, while managing all levels of medical and administrative personnel. Our job is to manage, direct and coordinate medical services in a variety of settings. It is our responsibility to know the skills and knowledge of medical services, as well as the laws that govern the industry.
Life has its twists and turns, but my overall life goal is simple, help others. I want to make an impact on others life, even if it is a small change. For instance, being able to hold a pencil is the difference between a student being able to graduate from Kindergarten and not be able to continue on to first grade. Being a Pediatric occupational therapist will help me make an impact on children at a very young age. Even small changes can have a large impacts, which is why I want to be that change for others.
I am well-driven and focused when it comes to something I have a passion for and in my case, it involves the medical field. I believe that I am the type of person that sets goals and does not rest until I achieve them. The fact that I know this career takes a large amount of dedication and hard work only motivates me more. Although becoming an Anesthesiologist can be considered a career path which is difficult and time consuming, I know I can prove others wrong and show them that I can have such a career. This specific part of the medical field holds more than importance to me, it holds my childhood dream, and somewhat of a sentimental value.
When asked what they want to be when they grow up, most children say astronaut, doctor, president, or veterinarian. I was one of those kids that replied “a veterinarian” when asked by others. Usually, when one gets older, that career goal changes into something different, but not for me. I did not know it then, but my dream of being a veterinarian would stick with me throughout my life, and influence the choices I make in order to reach that long-term goal. I come from a family that expresses an interminable love for animals.
It was just sitting there, in the Daisys, and it looked at me with a wanting face, it’s golden fur- the same color as mine- blowing in the wind. I texted my mom asking if she would let me keep it, and even though she said no at first, she changed her mind once I mentioned the fact that it was my birthday, and I now was old enough to take care of a dog. I named her Daisy, and we did so many more things together. We played fetch together, we played tag, and then after all that, I gave her a bath in a lake.
