Just as King is imprisoned in a Birmingham jail in which he penned his famous letter, Antigone is detained in a tomb where she faces a fate none other than death. Despite these heinous outcomes for their heroic actions, neither recoils at their fate. Instead, they display pride at their incarceration as it was brought about by the defense of justice. Antigone marches proudly to her tomb, citing that the desecration of her sibling was unlike that of a spouse or child. There is recovery from a lost spouse or child; however, there is no replacement for a brother.

In The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, it is the story of Alice and Wonderland but with a twist of wonderlanders fighting for their lives and Redd, Alyss’s aunt is trying to take over wonderland and Alyss has to stop it. When Beddor makes this change it shows a significance of many themes that can also be found in war. Like good v evil with Redd, Alyss and Dodge showing the two friendships but for Redd hate a power. A character that shows the significance of good v evil is Alyss and Redd.
Genevieve had taken away much of Alysss’ use of imagination in the story. Dodge had his feelings for Alyss taken away by his duty of a guardsmen when he was a boy, but he tried to make Alyss want vengeance as much as he did. Redd never let any of the Wonderlanders think on their own and always put thoughts in their head. Freedom of thought in The Looking Glass Wars helps explain tremendously why Queen Genevieve was a better ruler than Redd and why. The story was told as if someone had turned it upside down and shaken it around, and it was filled with all kinds of different themes that made the story
In the Looking Glass Wars, Frank Beddor uses conflict to transform Alyss from a naïve, mischievous, and endearing little girl into and imaginative, disciplined, and confident young woman so that she can lead the Alyssians in an attack to defeat Redd and take back her Queendom. She is transforming herself from the once childish and mischievous girl she was to a new woman. After spending most of her life in a different world, Alyss must adapt back to the ways of Wonderland and defeat Redd and reclaim her queendom. In the beginning, Alyss was a naïve and mischievous little girl who became an orphan and had to adapt into a new lifestyle.
In The novel, Beddor uses these conflicts to reveal the real Princess of Wonderland, Alice. In the beginning of the novel, Alyss is characterized as troublesome , demanding , and stubborn. The author states that imagination is a crucial part of life in Wonderland and Princess Alyss had the most powerful imagination ever seen in a 7-year-old ever to live in Wonderland: “ but as with any formidable talents, Alyss’ imagination could be used for good or ill, and the queen saw mild reasons for
Introduction In this paper, I will involve in exploring one trait of a hero in a nuanced and complex way. I will build this complexity by discussing two heroes who posses this trait, and one who does not. To illustrate, an epic hero is a character in the epic story or poem who is brave and noble. I will involve in exploring three heroes (Beowulf, Odysseus and Merry).
Many people told her Odysseus was likely dead and she should remarry but she kept her loyalty towards her husband and believed one day he would return. Conversely, the author does not avoid acts of vice, Achellies was a character who showed many acts of vice
I find the multitude of challenges that Alyss faced to be an intriguing look at life as we mature. Alyss overcomes losing both of her parents, who were killed by her power hungry aunt Redd. She also ends up getting separated from her most trusted bodyguard, Hatter, yet learns how to become more independent resulting from this situation. Lastly, she learns a very valuable lesson, when she is faced with the complex maze, to never give up. In the end, all of these challenges help to shape who Alyss is when she finally becomes the Queen of Wonderland.
In this essay, I will be talking about all the hardships that Lyddie had to push through and how bad their lives were back then. Many young girls, working as young as ten, had many harsh conditions already. Starting in chapter 3, which was the cutler's tavern, Lyddie got her first job. Even in the beginning, you could tell it was going to be a harsh time for the rude comments given by the owner. For example, “ “Go along” the woman was saying.
(Pg. 59, 3rd paragraph) Also, she doesn’t give up and overcome obstacles. Even though Alyce runs away because she failed to help Emma Blunt give birth, she regains her confidence when the rich merchant’s wife was laboring at the inn. In the book, it states, “Alyce backed out of the cottage, then turned and ran up the path to the road, she didn’t know why or where. Behind her in that cottage was disappointment and failure.
Alice’s encounters with the other characters in Wonderland push her to ponder about her own identity. For example in the Chapter II, after having experienced dramatic transformations in size by eating and drinking, she meets the White Rabbit in the hall. She asks herself, “I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different.
THEME OF ISOLATION AND SEARCH FOR SELF IDENTITY The main plan of the story Alice in Wonderland is that the seek for self-identity and for one 's purpose within the world. We know, from the start of the story, that there 's a niche between Alice and her sister in terms archaic and interests. We are able to infer from the story that Alice has no peers, which she is in a very pre-adolescent stage with a special intuition that separates her from the others. Concisely, Alice in Wonderland is that the symbolic journey of a fille through a world that she is commencing to analyze and see otherwise.
