Family is the most powerful weapon for people to live a delighted life. In the book, “Before we were free” and “In the Time of the Butterflies” by Julia Alvarez spoke about the brave families who struggled to bring freedom to the entire country. All the Mirable sister supported each other when they need each other help.“In the Time of the Butterflies” by Alvarez mentioned about Minerva, the main character of the book who fight against the dictator, Trujillo. Similarly, “Before we were free” Alvarez talked about Anita’s father and his fellow who fought against the ruler and bring freedom to the country. As a matter of fact Minerva and Anita’s family members were happy and independent before losing family members however because of the dictator …show more content…

“Before we were Free” said, “Mundin says that our uncle has been feeling sad…leaving my father and Tio Toni and other to bear brunt of the dictator son’s wrath” (on page 155). This demonstrates that, Anita’s family members were sad because of her father and other fellow who died while advocating for freedom of everyone. Anita got everything. She got everyone of her family members but she still felt empty. After Anita’s father and other people killed the dictator his son took over and take revenge for his father’s death. However Anita’s father and uncle died and their death is honorable to everyone because they gave a second chance to other Dominica people to live a free and peaceful life. On other hand “In the Time of the Butterflies” stated, “Runfino and Minerva were on gurnes, Patria and Mate on the mats… I remember Papa’s prediction Dede will bury in sire and pearls” (on page 307). This explains that, all family members who close to Dede died. They all fought for their right but later on Trujillo killed all her sister. Dede thought about the flashback that her father said to her that Dede will bury us and that come true. Minerva, Patria and Mate everyone is laying down on ground front of Dede.
