I became a lifeguard at age 16 because I love helping people. Honestly at first I wanted to be a lifeguard for the money but now it's become more about keeping people safe than my paycheck. Sure it’s boring when you sit on the stand for hours at a time, but I will myself to stay focused even with my ADD because I know at any moment, someone’s life could depend on my ability to act. My job is tedious sometimes, but when you
We were so proud! After all the practicing and sharing, it was time for SPLASHING! Sunglasses and sunscreen were on, and friends were summertime ready! Friend has tons; I mean TONS of fun today during water play. They even created a water slide.
Niarb found these creative images to be entertaining and continued to watch them during his free time. He learned that the world offers many lessons and that there are endless discoveries to be made. From the images Niarb saw, he taught himself how to make a container for liquids. This was useful information because he wanted to capture and bring the pond’s water with him so he can view it from the comfort of his home. Weeks into watching the outside world he discovered that other humans started keeping bowls of
Hello Mrs. Gawne! How has your summer played out? I hope it has been good. This summer I read The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown and I found his details about dedication and team work very tasteful. As I was reading, thoughts of our chemistry class arose and how Daniel James Brown’s descriptions of how teamwork and practice was so crucial to the success of the team in the sport of rowing related to the class in general.
The most obvious metaphor is that the pools are a symbol for time. At the beginning, when Neddy decides to go on his adventure, he is very warm, because it is a nice “midsummer Sunday” (1), he would even feel comfortable swimming naked (4). Teddy was just having a swell time in the sun and he was excited to continue on his quest to swim across his county (6), unfortunately for him, everyone at the start wants to socialize with him, slowing him down. Storms end his summer, and cause him to pause in gazebo, while he is there, he shivers a touch, it’s become fall (9). The more swimming he does, the worse the weather gets and the colder he becomes (17).
We get to see our friends and the entire extended family, and there are so many exciting things to see and do in the summer. All of that makes summer my sister’s favourite season, and it really is a fun time for all of us. My siblings and I get to roam and explore and go swimming. My mother also likes it because being with our big family means there are people to assist with the work and other people to talk with; she also gets to see her own brothers and sisters. My father gets to sit with the other men and he doesn’t have to worry about us having enough food for a while.
I and the lifeguards from the Wytheville Community Center worked as a team to save a life of someone we have never met before. Our reward from working as a team gave the teenage boy another chance at life. This is the greatest reward that I have ever received. Some rewards from teamwork are big and some are small, but the true reward is working as a team. I and the team of lifeguards that made the save that day later received a Hero Reward from the Town of Wytheville and got to meet the teenage boy we had
As the doubt in myself drifts away it is replaced by a humble confidence that is recognizable in all that I do. I succeed as a person today because, I now want to be the one to hold the lives of many in my hands. I want them to be able to trust me as I now can trust myself. Every time I see a new guard step out onto the pool deck for their first shift, I think back to when I had the same look in my eyes and sweat on my brow, and I reach

This is where the students get to perform any kind of talent they possess in front of the school and community members that choose to come. The activities and events we host are always very fun and exciting. I have been a volunteer since my freshman year of high school, which is when they allow you to be a volunteer. Before that you may participate in the activities. I feel that this volunteer project does benefit both me and the recipients, because I get to experience such an amazing act of kindness that changes a person 's life forever.
Gary Paulsen wrote a book titled Harris and Me. The book Harris and Me has a subtitle A Summer to Remember. The book has a subtitle A Summer to Remember because it is an adventurous and exciting summer for both Harris and”Me”. Paulsen had this subtitle because it was a summer of adventures and a place that “Me” felt he belonged. At first “Me” was not used to the things on the farm, but the more adventures he did, and the more he learned about this family, the more he accepted and enjoyed it.
