Being involved in my community has brought a positive impact towards my life and towards the ones who I have helped out. There are plenty of activities in my area in which I have been involved in. Being in the AVID program has also motivated me into volunteer services in the community. I have volunteered at schools to help with carnivals and assist children in the classroom. Regularly, I also get involved in my church once a month to clean it, as well as help out with the some of the events that are held there. Even though community service does not sound appealing to every person, it has created new experiences for me. Visiting schools have been enjoyable because I get to be around younger kids and it brings me back memories of
Service is something that I enjoy to do because I get to help others. There are a lot of people that need help in this world, and small acts of service can go a long way. Throughout high school I have done many acts of service. I have volunteered at many different organizations in the Cedar Valley. During Christmas time I have rang the bell for the Salvation Army.
This too, has strengthened my value of belonging to the community and feeling good about where you live and work. Throughout my career, Advia has provided me many opportunities to be involved in the community and has taught me the value of contributing. I now regularly volunteer for Michigan Blood, for an annual blood drive. I work for my township, due to my experience and connections from my credit union and I get to use 3 paid days to volunteer for local charity events throughout the
Consistent civic engagement serves to be very prominent in my life. I believe that it is necessary to band together with like-minded individuals, conduct volunteerism, and promote the well-being of a society. Whether it is through the promotion of diversity and culture or by physically ameliorating the society that has nurtured me. Volunteering does not only improve the community visually and physically, but spiritually. Through my own experiences, I enjoy giving back to the community as well as the society as a whole.
In fact, I have been performing community service since I was very young. In middle school, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, I made my service project the donation of snacks, toiletries, and other items purchased in grocery stores. I would collect supplies, packaged them, and ship them to Marines stationed overseas. This NJHS community service project was inspired by my membership in the Young
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
Helping others has always been a passion of mine and it brings me satisfaction knowing I am lending a hand those in need. I often help around my community, such as a coordinating a Christmas party for less fortunate
One of the many actions that keep our nation going, that is often overlooked, is community service. Often times community service is required in school and in jobs encouraging people to be excited to help out. Other times, people
Being involved with BuildOn, which is an organization that lets teens reach out to their community through the act of volunteering, gave me exposure to homeless shelters, food pantries, tutoring centers, and taught me the importance of helping others. The act of volunteering gave me the opportunity to talk to others and change my point of view. It has shown me that not everyone has the same opportunities to succeed in life, and that is why a small act of kindness can always have an impact, whether it is small or large. Participating in
I began volunteering to accumulate service hours for graduation. Giving my time has opened my heart for others. Volunteering is very important in our society. One rewarding service experience I have had was as a Youth Docent at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. I enjoyed my time at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center because I felt that I was changing lives.
Consequently, community service has been an important part of my
I love to volunteer because it is something that I have always loved doing. I also want to spread my name more throughout Houston and along with that be able to give to my city. There's some things that the youth can have their voice in regarding the city. We always want to make sure we have all points of view included in things the city does. I also love working with different people.
One of the most beneficial service experiences I had was service at the humane society. I chose it initially for the aspect of being around animals, but it was also a great opportunity to gain my hours efficiently, since a single weekend could result in 10 hours of work. Those hours were due to the fact that several dozen cats and dogs there require a great deal of maintenance. Besides tending to the obvious needs of them, such as cleaning their kennels and providing food and water, they also needed to be walked and played with. Volunteering there allowed me to help the other people there simultaneously.
Some of the duties that I have supported while doing community service include preparing meals, accessing community resources, guiding these individuals to different low-income programs that they might qualify for, and helping my local pantry, among other duties. Doing community service has not only been a way to get hands-on experience in the social work field. It has also helped me gain meaningful and effective experience that I believe has significantly prepared me for real-world work as a prospective social worker. Given the opportunity to join the program, it will allow me to further develop and reinforce my experience in this rewarding
I have performed community service in the past, for example building shelters for poor kids in Tainan in 6th grade as well as a donation program called Max which provides toys and school materials for schools in rural China and spending a week there to interact with the kids. Both of these services gave me a better understanding of how fortunate we are and how it’s more of an obligation rather than a choice to help the less fortunate around you. Regarding teaching experiences, I haven’t performed official outside of school classroom teaching, however, in middle school when I was still attending Shanghai American School, there was a buddy program where we got assigned to lower school buddies. This program required us to interact and provide help to lower school children and address any concerns they may have on their schoolwork or even troubles outside of school and were required to meet at least once a month. Although this experience wasn’t a relationship between the fortunate and those in need, it was an experience in which I learned the need of a relationship between young and older kids.
Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
