No normal person would want to go shoot a dinosaur or go canoeing in a river full of crocodiles. That’s just a few compares and contrast of the two characters. As the reader you start to understand the dangers there are in life while reading these stories. In being “Being Prey” and “A Sound of Thunder” they both experience difficult situations that helps them understand the world a little better. The theme in both stories helps develop the setting, conflict, and main
THE CHANGE OF THE EVERGLADES BY:EXAVION VALENTINE The presence of the Burmese python is killing the Everglades. According to Andrew Ng Burmese python are “wiping out humongous numbers of opossums, racoons, bob cats as well as many species of birds.” Florida has hosted a challenge to take down this invasive species. Clearly, the Burmese python is drawing hunters to the Everglades. According to Andrew Ng in his 2013 article, “to address the problem, the state’s Fish and Wildlife Commission is sponsoring its first ever Python Challenge.” This statement means that hunters are coming to participate in this challenge. This is important because it can get rid of the pythons in the Everglades.
Both movies focus on survival. In Jaws, it is the more extreme idea of surviving a shark attack. Midnight Cowboy focusing on surviving in the city. People were cruel to him, and he needed to make something of himself. He has to go through starvation, the cold, with no money to his name.

Val Plumwood was an Australian Philosopher that survived a crocodile encounter back in February 1985. She was exploring and sightseeing in the Kakadu wetlands one day. A storm came through the area and ended up taking her out of a safe channel and into a main river known to be filled with crocodiles. In the main river she encounters a crocodile which decides to make her it’s prey. She somehow survived three death rolls by the crocodile, and luckily made it out alive despite her major injuries caused by the animal.
Wild animals such as the killer whales should not be kept in captivity because they are dangerous , breeding a dangerous whales produces more potentially danger. Tilikum is known for his killing Sealand trainer Keltie Byrne .” When she fell into the pool containing all three orcas, she was pulled to the bottom of the enclosure by Tilikum tossed around among the three orcas and ultimately drowned “.Seaworld heard that the 12,000 pound orca was on the market they quickly purchased him for its breeding program. 54 percent of Seaworld 's orcas have his genes. The fact that seaworld is breeding their most dangerous whale tilikum, it should be taken into further into account, because the more whales in captivity with his DNA the more dangerous work becomes for trainers and other that encounter these animals. Since keeping whales in captivity is dangerous we should not be breeding
To avoid being killed before he saved Dax, Kaleb stabbed the mountain lion in the back of the head, killing it instantly. Kaleb walked over to Axel, only to see that he did not survive the trauma that was caused. Kaleb knew, it was time to start going, but first, he walked back over to the mountain lion, and cut out its sharp tooth. He tied it to a piece of string and made a necklace out of it. The next day, Kaleb found out where they were hiding Dax.
In “Being Prey” the author Val Plumwood ventures out into an “unfamiliar” marsh that was being struck by a “severe storm”, this imposes an ominous, deadly effect on the setting. If Val had not gone out during such a dangerous time, the outcome of her story may have been different. In “A Sound of Thunder” Eckels travels to a setting with a very perilous “monster”, a T-Rex. This monster also imposes the same deadly effect as it did in “Being Prey”, especially on the setting. Both stories show several instances contributing to the dangerousness of their settings.
Odysseus and his men travel from Troy back to Ithaca stopping at different islands along the way, running into strange monsters like the cyclops Polyphemus and angering the gods. When he assuredly returns to Ithaca, without his men, he has to fight and defeat the suitors who are trying to marry his wife Penelope. Odysseus’ men had a hard time returning back to their normal way of living when they stopped on the island of Ismarus. When they made it to the island they “...killed the men who fought. Plunder...” and “..enslaved the women…”(Homer lines 43-45).
Abigail tells us that noise pollution is hurting animals that use sonar to get around are becoming closer to extinction. The animals hear sonar devices, sound waves from boats, and oil rigs that are really loud. This can cause the animals to have mass strandings, reckless diving, being unable to find food, and have chronic stress. Abigail goes on to inform us that cruise ships have also done a great deal of damage to the ocean life. Since there are poor laws in place regarding the way they dispose of the waste from the ships, it all goes into the ocean untreated with many harmful bacteria, pathogens, and other stuff we dispose of.
People of the everglades is in danger for the hunters may think they are pythons to and shoot them to. How would you feel if you were living in the Florida everglades with the rapid growing carnivore? To conclude, the hunting pets and the danger of the everglades have went to extreme. The hunters have went too far with these animals. These Burmese pythons are changing the ecosystem of the everglades in so many ways.
These eating machines don’t provide a benefit to the Everglades, instead, they harm the ecosystem. The presence of Burmese pythons are changing the Everglades because they are forcing many humans to hunt the pythons and Burmese pythons are wiping out native species. The only solution to the Burmese python crisis is to convince people to go out and hunt them. “Python Challenge” is an advertisement that uses appealing phrases and prize money to convince many citizens to hunt and kill these pythons.
Knowing I could not survive of this boat alone, I have to protect Pi. The hyena stands above my head growling foaming at the mouth about to lunge, the hyena takes irs first leap and I jump out with my razor sharp teeth killing the hyena in a single bite. Pi does get extremely scared and falls backwards almost going overboard. I did not want the hurt him so I take a step back and sit. He got in a fighting pose and I just sat.
So when the alligators become a problem they are taken to a new location which can be the lake by the welcome center, the lake by the summit church, or the one by the solar field. Before Herman the UPD had to call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission but they don’t take alligator calls anymore so then UPD had to settle to trapping them and then calling a Trappers. Trappers kill the alligators (Krebs). So much trouble goes into dealing with an alligator that’s why I strongly believe that we shouldn’t have gators living in the SoVi lake. What’s the point of constantly having to deal with this issue.
In the Life of Pi the environment was raining and my evidence is only rain, marauding waves of black ocean and the flotsam of tragedy. The similarities are is that they 're both really dangerous environment because Keesh has to wrestle with a bear and Pi has to be on the boat when it’s really wavy and raining a lot and a tiger was still their. The differences are Keesh has people that can help him and Pi doesn’t have anyone to help him. As a result Keesh’s environment is a habitat with polar bears is dangerous and the evidence that supports this is Keesh fought a mother polar bear with two cubs without any weapons. Also, Pi has to live in a scary environment and my evidence that supports this is he has to live with a 350- pound tiger and he can barely go on the boat because the tiger knows when he is on the boat.
