1. Introduction The world is technologically developing with a speedy pace that is hard to keep up with. Kids are using smart phones, lovers are meeting via online dating website and smart phone apps, and even talking with friends or family is taking place online. Everything changed. It is becoming smart and online, and not only for entertainment matters but also in business matters. This online technological spree has hit all portions of our lives and it is creating a massive difference in the way things work. For instance, we shall focus on the business aspects. The business world has lived so many changes throughout centuries and lots of efforts have been made to keep up with these changes. Business encounters started from merchants travelling thousands of miles to exchange goods to companies doing business with other companies in different ends of the world from their computers. Carr says that the attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and socialization of modern day society, or rather the lack of, is to the blame of the internet. Although Carr creates a strong argument, and does nothing but continually back up his thesis with good facts, but it is his actual thesis that I disagree with. Carr constantly states historical and scientific facts that show how the internet is following a path from the past.
Nowadays, more employers require new workers to sign “Non-Compete Agreements”, in order to prevent insiders from taking consumers’ data, business secrets or newly researched technologies to competing firms when the workers leave. A non-compete agreement is a contract between an employee and employer that confines the ability of workers to involve in business which competes with their current employer. The agreement is most often signed at the beginning of employment. It puts a limit on the employee to not work for a competitor company immediately after leaving their employment with the current company.
