Many people these days suffer needlessly when it comes to their physical health and well-being. This is because of the lack of knowledge about our lifestyle, how to stay fit and healthy by including eating habits together with physical activity. If we knew how to keep healthy, our lives would be much more enjoyable. Only if you truly believe in yourself you can achieve what you wish. If you for example wish to lose 2 pound healthily a week, you can simply tell yourself to eliminate 500 calories from your daily caloric intake and burn 500 calories from daily exercise. This can become a habit that you wouldn’t mind having because it will lead to healthy weight loss and a beautiful body. Making habits for all you healthy life choices will simply help your physiological self. If you tell yourself to eat healthy and therefore eat healthily, you will be proud of yourself and this feeling can continue to lead to a healthy lifestyle. Basically a healthy lifestyle starts with your mind and you physiological self. You do what you believe is right and like this you can achieve benefiting results.

Our bodies are not equipped to deal with stress on a daily basis. Constant stress can lead to a rise in blood pressure, which increases you chance for a stroke or a heart attack. Stress also affects the blood cells that aid in fighting infection. With weak cells all it can leave you helpless against a common cold, other illnesses and medical conditions. Health has to do with a person’s overall condition, regarding any acute or chronic illnesses or injuries. Health has to do with having a positive emotional outlook on life. Health also includes a person’s nutrition, physical activity, and getting the proper sleep. When someone is in good health, this person should be able to bounce back from any minor illnesses/injuries, and they should be fully functional in society. This includes the ability to enjoy life, socializing with others, and the ability to feel safe.
I have chosen public health as my major because it is a dynamic field. I have a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and helping others achieve their goals. My philosophy of health education is very simple, to prevent, improve and educate the lives of individuals, families, communities, populations, and societies. For instance, stress could lead to stress-induced gastrointestinal problems, irritable bowel syndrome, acidity, acid reflux, insomnia, depression, heart disease. Stress-related illness led to increase in absenteeism and attrition affecting the profitability of the organizations. (Kumar & Rooprai, 2009) Stress can be triggered by the pressures of everyday responsibilities at work and at home. Traumatic stress, brought on by war, disaster, or a violent attack, can keep your body’s stress levels elevated far longer than is necessary for survival.
If you’ve ever tried to follow nutrition news, then you know that recommendations change all the time. Foods that were once labeled as good for you can, for example, can suddenly be red flagged, and the food you were taught to avoid can all of a sudden be good for you. With all these mixed reviews going around, sticking to a healthy diet plan can be really challenging, which make sense right? It will also make you question the advice you’re receiving from experts, who, like the weather, appear to be changing their views regularly.
Based on my data for my daily intake of foods, I would say that I live a pretty healthy life. I went over the food groups and calories, nutrients, food details and meal summary of my food diary and I thought it was interesting to look at all the little details of the different foods I ate throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. If I had to set 5 goals to improve my nutrition in what I eat and how I keep myself healthy I would have to say for the first one, exercise more, the second one choose healthier meal options, third one eat more throughout the day, fourth one choose healthier snacks, and for the last one do not eat when bored. I try to exercise as much as I can when I have free time, but it is sometimes hard to find some free time.

It is recommended that we drink at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water or half of your total body weight in fluid ounces of water per day. In a perfect world we would all be eating the right food, exercising, sleeping well and just generally enjoying life. In the real world most of us manage a percentage of the healthy lifestyle and muddle through as best we can with the rest of it. Part of the problem is we are encouraged to think, mostly by the media, that we should be doing everything possible towards a healthy lifestyle, all of the time. For most of us this is just not possible.
