I partially disagree with the statement "It would be great to be famous". I believe being famous is dependant on the type of person that is famed as well as how they deal with the fame. Fame comes with its many benefits and limitations. Therefore, while many people might want to be famous and want the attention fame brings, it could affect them badly as well. In this essay, I will discuss both and reason why the limitations slightly outweigh the benefits.
Firstly, the benefits. There are many benefits to being famous but the most prevalent reasons are that it is correlated with wealth and influence.
In terms of wealth, many people that have fame are able to garner a reputation for themselves and thus a brand. Later on, when their fame grows they would be able to continue to sell their brand, themselves, to the public and expand their wealth. An example of this is with athletes. Athletes that are at the top of their respective sport can be very famous individuals and would attract major sports brands such as Nike, Adidas, or Puma. They would become models and spokespeople for the brand. For example, Neymar and Nike following his signing onto the Barcelona Football Club. At the same time, correlation does not equal causation. There are numbers of people that got their wealth not from fame but from their hard work. Take the example of the richest man in the world today: Bill Gates. He got his fame as a result of his wealth, not the other way around.
In terms of influence,
The Dark Truth In the contemporary world, a person’s success is usually determined by their job and because of this social norm, most of one’s life is spent attempting to live up to this expectation. Individuals possess vast dreams to hold highly ranked jobs and be content while doing so. However, the harsh reality is that people do not always necessarily meet society’s definition of “success.” There are several factors as to why, under certain circumstances, one cannot hold an affluent occupation and be prolific.
Fame is in everyone 's mind in today’s society. With social media, such as Youtube, it’s easy to become famous, but for some people that isn 't enough. There are people out there who will do anything for fame, one such example is Luka Rocco Magnotta. When he was 22, he went under a psychiatric assessment, as was diagnosed with depression. He was prescribed with medication for life.

Celebrities use impression manage in order to create and maintain a particular image to the public. Implementing Goffman’s concept to singer song writer Lady Gaga with unconventional and provocative practices reveals a deeper purpose with her involvement in celebrity status. Goffman’s theory states that celebrities’ constantly explore different images simply by putting on a front in order to enhance images within popular culture to be accepted by society. By enhancing their image within the public would more than likely accompany a larger fan base and, therefore, which increases their fortune (Ferrante, 2008).Due to her promotion and influence of youth empowerment and self- identity Lady Gaga draws critical acclaim subsequently boosting her public image. The social implications are overwhelming in the sense that a person would pretend to be something they are not in order to gain mass social acceptance.
If that was the case success would be 100 percent on luck but it isn't success is about working hard and getting noticed. Once they are noticed, like gladwell said they are given opportunities that lead to their future

As a result, people’s attachments for tangible goods become more intense, especially celebrities. Celebrities have spent most of their lifetime persisting fame and wealth. The Consumption of the Kardashians Carling Hunt 500561747 Professor Jamin Pelkey TA: Michael ACS100-101 28 November 2015 The 20th century was an era of great transformation. It was the birth of department stores, automobiles and consumption durables. Advertising became a popular and effective means of promoting goods to the consumer through billboards, television, and print media. In turn, this revolutionized a modest, minimalistic way of life into a new culture of a consumeristic society (Mooers “Constructing the Consumer”). It was this revelation that sparked the gluttonous need for the ever new.
