The value of community serves an important
In my freshman year, I made a choice to relinquish some of my social life and replace that time giving back to my community. I joined a non-profit organization called the Volunteer Corp. We spent our time at food banks, park clean-ups, and even hosting local events. This experience left a lasting impression on me in many ways; however, one experience changed my perspective on life and serve as a constant reminder of how the smallest contribution to others can be the most powerful. St. Joseph University, in Philadelphia, held an event called Hand in Hand. It was an event dedicated to raising awareness for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities.
ESSAY ONE (minimum 300 words) -Community can be defined as a number of people living in the same area and linked by common values, practices, and goals (Spitzberg & Thorndike, 1992). Describe an experience in which you made a positive difference in a community you are a member of. What did you learn about the concept of “communities” from this experience, and how do you see these lessons playing out when forming a community in Honors Housing? One way that I dedicate time to my community is by volunteering at my local YMCA. I volunteered for SNAP (Special Needs Adaptive Program), where once a week, I would help a student with one-on-one swimming instruction.
My opinion on this topic would be that it would be better to go to the military than college. If you wanted a better financial life don't go to college you may lose a lot. For you to go to a good college you have to have amazing grades or a lot of money and you may want to switch classes, and that could cost a lot of cash just for a textbook. They could be over $500 dollars you could go to any library find the same stuff that is in that book and save hundreds and learn More.

One of the many actions that keep our nation going, that is often overlooked, is community service. Often times community service is required in school and in jobs encouraging people to be excited to help out. Other times, people
This idea of Mc Knight’s article appealed to me in so many ways. When I first began my service learning experience I often thought about the concept of service as something voluntarily but something required that I was expected to do. Signing up for my service learning site I knew that I was required to complete at least thirty hours of community service. I thought to myself and said “cool! I have to do community hours but it is okay it will be just like high school.
Assignment #2 - What does service mean to me? This is a concept that I have been considering in great detail. I have always loved doing community service and giving back to the community. However, I never thought of what my life would be like without community service. The definition of service based on the Oxford dictionary: "The action of helping or doing work for someone.
It is always a god way to support a community and as well meet new people, and help others. I feel that everyone should volunteer because you will gain a lot out of life by helping others. I am glad I got the chance to volunteer, because I felt better about myself knowing that I helped others, and I look forward toward more opportunities like this. I know that my experience as has been a wonderful opportunity to grow as a person, and I have made use of this to the best of my ability.
The feeling one gets after doing something good for others around us is not explainable, but it sure helps us feel more human and develop a better view of the things around us, what if children and youth where exposed to the same feeling, in my opinion children and youth will start participating more and more in community service projects to feel that they did something for the community. Charity work should not be mandatory and people should not have community service requirements to graduate, get a job or have a scholarship. The feeling of doing good is simply washed away when charity works becomes mandatory, youth who want to volunteer will do more but those who are not really interested will have a negative idea for volunteering and community service. The problem is that many schools, institutes and universities around the world use the mandatory community service for graduation. For example the university I study in has mandatory 80 hours of community service to get your final
Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
