Mars – Should we settle or just visit? By: Megan Bailey 12J
You might think that The Race to Mars is topic for the future, but think again. It is taking place right now. There is some controversy towards this Race to Mars, as some believe that it is a planet that people could live on, whereas others believe that we should only visit it. Both, living on Mars, and visiting Mars have various advantages and disadvantages. The real question is: which one would benefit science, and humanity the most?
Stephen Hawking once said, “I don't think the human race will survive the next thousand years, unless we spread into space.” Overpopulation is an enormous issue in the world today. We have exceeded our carrying capacity by far, and are now using up all of our resources available. Humans are greedy. We want more than what we need, and thus use up everything we have. The way that mankind is living now, will ensure that our species becomes extinct soon. Living on another planet, like Mars, could ensure the survival and success of the human race, as it is a viable solution to the overpopulation on Earth, as well as the loss of resources.
Living on Mars, will benefit science, in that scientists may end up discovering life on

These are disadvantages to both living on, and visiting Mars. Phil Plait, an astronomer, said, “On a trip to Mars, which will take six months or more, you need something roomier [than the space shuttle.]” The equipment needed to send people to Mars, is very expensive. The trip there is going to be very crowded, and very long. Space shuttles are generally small, and people travelling to Mars would have to share a confined space with many others, for about six months. Human nature will cause people to eventually get irritated with each other, which will make the trip there much longer. People may end up losing hope on the trip there, and get discouraged. This could result in the failure of the
If earth suddenly becomes uninhabitable, and Let Robots Take to the Stars mentions itself in paragraph 4, that Earth is “plagued by pollution”. Mars is the easiest planet to access and live on. Overall, eventually our earth is going to be destroyed because of us putting out greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere. By studying Mars for the next five to ten years we can learn about the effects of our future. Mars’ atmosphere is 95.32% carbon dioxide, this is what our atmosphere will eventually end up like.
A visit is much less memorable than a journey. With just a visit, one does not learn from experiences and carry that knowledge to the next journey. Once again the journey,
It’s not just the scenery that makes space so amazing, it’s the endless exploration possibilities. We have done so many things for our home planet, solved so many issues, been through so many wars. We as humans make our world suffer from things like global warming. We should give the world a break, and start exploring space.
The first reason is that we could make friends so we are not lonely and NEVER have friends. We could just have tables and benches so that we could hang out with them and not just sit on the ground and be awkward. We could also plant some trees, and when they grow we could climb in them. All in all, this is a good thing. The second reason is that it could be a time to work on homework or missing work.
There have been many questions about the future of human beings as long as we have existed. Today, that question is about space and the future of the Earth. There are many arguments on the future of people on Earth and how we will survive with the decline of the Earth in recent years. Some have suggested settling Mars or other planets, while others say that we should stay on Earth and take better care of it to save it. So what should we do?
Colonizing Mars Mars is often voted by people as being the most likely place for humans to colonize after we are done with Earth. This is often said because of Mars’s similar size to Earth and similar climate. However, Mars might not be the best place to go when we decide to make our first extra-terrestrial home. Whether you believe we should colonize another planet or not, evidence proves that moving to Venus is both logical and cost effective. There is much more promise in visiting Venus and much more we can learn.
On Mars, humans are exposed to radiation. On Earth, however, humans are protected by a magnetic field. The effects of exposure are severe memory loss, brain damage, and cancer. That would be terrible for scientists, because when they have to go exploring for samples scientists would have to be very cautious. Although the gravity on Mars allows humans to jump higher and run faster, scientists have observed what happens to humans in low-gravity environments, including weakened immune systems, extreme fatigue, and muscle and bone loss.
• I want you to stop for your second and look at the person sitting next to you. What you are looking at is the fine result of over 200 thousand years of evolution; the master piece of natural selection, and a perfectly adapted organism to life on earth. • But with exponential grow in technological advances, unpredictable climate change or even space exploration.
The invasion of Mars by Earthlings in “The Martian Chronicles” by Ray Bradbury causes both Martians and Earthlings to suffer from several different consequences. There are many instances in “The Martian Chronicles” where these consequences are shown indirectly. Some fatal consequences formed by the invasion of Mars include innocent deaths, the spread of insanity, sorrow, loneliness, confusion, chaos, and the growth of an unwanted second Earth on Mars. Overall, since the 1st expedition of Earthlings traveling to Mars, things have digressed.
The team believes that its not too long a wait and it 's bound to happen sooner or later. The Mars-One team develops a pressing tone for the ones who one day look forward to living on mars. This article is from a fact filled website that shows it is and can be possible for this lifestyle to happen, that which gives others hope and that will give them support. Vertesi, Janet, and The Opinions Expressed in This Commentary are Solely Those of Janet Vertesi.
Introduction The world has seen a lot, but space exploration has had the most significant effect on the world since sugar. The space race and things like the Sputnik change the way the world thinks. While space exploration can be very expensive, space exploration has had the greatest effect on the world because it has exponentially changed the world in education, culture, global challenges, and has created life changing innovations for many people. The thought of "discovery" and "exploration" Space exploration has been the best thing since sugar because it brought the world together.
Is Space Exploration Worth it? Do you want to stay here forever? The question of space exploration has lingered inside everyone’s mind since the Space Race and humans looked to the stars. Humankind exploring our interstellar neighborhood in inevitable and beneficial.
We learned to monitor orbiting astronauts- pioneering telemedicine & leading to unprecedented improvements in patient monitoring”(Fowler, 1). Funding for space exploration could help physicians go into space, test materials, bring them back (if promising), and use them on patients. Also adding to that, “ We would be a much more healthy planet and society, if we stopped warring with each other and wasting precious minerals that we have on this Earth -on- war, we would have more resources to spend on more important things such as daily
Introduction The moon landing was an exciting and phenomenal event, but a mars landing would be even more exciting for humanity. " In college, I wanted to be involved in things that would change the world. Now I am (Iliev, 2018). " These are the words of the man behind the dream and ambition to land on Mars under the SpaceX Program.
There is no doubt that reaching to Mars will facilitate several changes in the current human society. Going to the Red planet has been a huge dream of humanity for several decades.
