HEALTH BENEFITS OF MEDITATION:
WHAT IS MEDITATION?
Meditation is a practice which involves trying to train your thoughts to stay in the present moment, because in the present moment there is true peace.
WHY WE NEED TO MEDITATE?
The constant desire to be somewhere else (some other place or time) can produce a slowly growing sense of dissatisfaction with where we are here and now. Furthermore, when we are not paying attention is the time when the mind gets up to ‘mischief’ in the form of worry and rumination which are at the very heart of anxiety and depression. Spending even a few minutes in meditation can restore your calm and inner peace. It teaches us how to use the mind in a different way and to focus on the things that are most useful and helpful in our lives thus helping us to live more consciously and fully.
BENEFITS:
MEDITATION AND ILLNESS:
Research suggests that meditation may help such conditions as:

Mindfulness has also been shown to reduce cortisol levels in cancer patients – a sign of a poor prognosis – and improve quality of life.
AGEING:
Meditation may slow genetic ageing and enhance genetic repair. If one considers all of the affects of allostatic load mentioned before, it is probably not surprising that something such as meditation would help to slow and possibly even reverse to some extent the ageing process.
CHRONIC PAIN:
Mindfulness meditation has been found to be associated with a significant reduction in pain, fatigue, and sleeplessness, but improved functioning, mood and general health for people with chronic pain syndromes.
PHSIOLOGICAL
Mindfulness is an intentional awareness of one’s self and one’s environment in the present moment that is cultivated by the practice of withholding judgement of one’s thought. Kabat-Zinn believes that “inhabiting the full dimensionality of our being,” is the inner resource all humans possess and must utilize to reach their full potential (FCL xxvii). Mindfulness is tuning into this full dimensionality, yet at the same time focusing in on one thing specifically, that thing being whatever may be occurring in the present time. This ‘object of awareness’ may shift from practice to practice, or within a practice, and can be almost anything: the breath, noise, sensations on the skin, emotions, or even thoughts. Often the details chosen to practice
All you need to do is sit comfortably and conjure up a peaceful image in your head. It can be a vacation spot you are desperate to visit or a happy memory that brings you peace. Either way, visualize it and feel your stress melt away. This is also effective for visualizing future goals. 19.

Another study at the U.S. National Institute of Health had participants do yoga every day for eight weeks, and take brain scans before and after. These scans showed that a part of the brain called the amygdala, which controls fear, anxiety and stress, had shrunk after the 8 weeks of yoga practice. Physical activity/exercise helps increase the chemical norepinephine which helps relieve stress. Exercise also helps increase endorphins in the brain which makes people feel happier and less
Try not to be reluctant to change places or time of meditation if that specific place or time is not working for you. How meditation is going to help you, we learn. The advantages of meditation are conceivable on the grounds that meditation influences the parts of your mind that manage mental conditions, for example, a state of mind, tension, stress, sorrow, stress, and so on. A human typically gets depressed when they
The exercise of running continues to be a popular and effective way to prevent unhealthy weight gain. Running motivates many people to maintain their healthy lifestyle. Runners often highlight the benefits of running whereas people who do not run often describe the negative effects of running. While both sides are correct at times, most of running’s negative effects are not inevitable. Thus, running has many positive and negative effects on the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems of the human body.
Characteristics of Effective Helper In 1952, Eysenck examined 24 uncontrolled studies that looked at the effectiveness of counseling and Psychotherapy and found that “roughly two-thirds of a group of neurotic patients will recover or improve to a marked extent within about two years of the onset of their illness, whether they are treated by means of psychotherapy or not [Italics added]”. Although found to have serious methodological flaws, Eysenck’s research did lead to debate concerning the effectiveness of counseling and resulted in hundreds of studies that came to some very different conclusions: It is a safe conclusion that as a general class of healing practices, psychotherapy is remarkably effective.
I argue that while mechanistic and teleological explanations are distinctly different, both are required in order to thoroughly explain a phenomenon. In this essay, I will describe mechanistic, atomistic, and teleological explanations, highlight their key differences, and then explain why one cannot completely understand a phenomenon without incorporating a teleological component. A mechanistic explanation is one that describes “how” a phenomenon (such as breathing, growing, or eating) occurs. It conveys the physiological, or physical, movements and changes involved in that phenomenon.
Mindfulness meditation has been described ‘as the awareness that comes from paying attention to the present moment experience in a purposeful and non-judgmental manner’ (Bishop et al., 2004 cited in Brown, Bravo, Roos, & Pearson, 2014 p. 1020). Pearson, Brown, Bravo and Witkiewitz (2015) suggest there are five important features of mindfulness when practising such as focussing one’s attention to the present and avoiding distractions, non-judgmentally experiencing thoughts, non-reactivity to thoughts, labelling experiences and simply observing thoughts/feelings. Integrated with the literature, this portfolio will contain description of my experience with mindfulness meditation technique resulted from guided exercises from Rob Nairn’s book ‘Diamond
Mindfulness & Power of our thoughts A strong impact is made on our health and overall well-being by what we think and feel, how we talk to ourselves, and what view we take about what is happening to us, and around us. Mindfulness, in its simplest form, means to be able to pay attention to the present moment, without judgment and criticism. To the things that actually “are”.

Why taking a second language can be helpful Learning a second language has many lifelong beneficial other than just understanding the language itself, mainly if learned at a young age. Learning a second language can be done more efficiently as a young kid, and can open up many doors for later in life while being mentally advanced. When it comes to learning a second language, the younger you start the easier you will begin to learn your second language. Younger brains learn much easier than older brains because the brain is designed for language learning to take place between birth and adolescence (the period following the onset of puberty during which a young person develops from a child into an adult).
Listening to music gives humans huge amount of benefits towards their personal life.
