Benjamin Franklin was a boy who was born Boston in the year 1706. Josiah, Franklin's parent, wanted to send him to school with the clergy but they didn’t have enough money, so he only went two years and did not graduate. Schooling for Franklin ended when he was ten, after that he worked for awhile with his father. Then at twelve, he worked as an apprentice with his brother James a printer who taught Franklin the printing trade. At the age of fifteen, Benjamin started a newspaper called “The New-England courant”, which was the first truly independent newspaper in the colonies. At age seventeen he ran away to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to begin a new life, he began working at several print shops in town, but he was not liking the prospects of it. Electricity already existed what benjamin did was get a way to get that to work as something to power things like lights, phones, etc. In October nineteen franklin wrote a letter to England with directions in repetition experiment, “When rain has wet the kite twine so that it can conduct the electric fire freely, you will find it streams out plentifully from the key at the approach of your knuckle, and with this key a phial, or Leyden jar, may be charged: and from electric fire thus obtained spirits may be kindled, and all other electric experiments [may be] performed which are usually done by the help of a rubber glass globe or tube; and therefore the sameness of the electrical matter with that of lightning completely demonstrated.” In honor of his amazing work with electricity, he received Honorary Degrees from Harvard and Yale those two where his first degrees. In 1730-1740 Franklin began to study population growth and he noticed that America had the fastest growth rate on the earth at that time.
