The void was trying to destroy Hopewell and turn everyone evil. John and Nest have to use their magic to defeat the Demon so that the Void doesn’t win and turn the world evil. To sum up the theme good vs evil in Running With The Demon, the Word(good) ends up defeating the Void(bad) by waiting and not using their magic until the right time.
The movie "Despicable me" is about a man named Gru and his small yellow assistants known as the Minions. The theme of perseverance is one that stretches across the wide spectrum of genres when it comes to literature and film. Romance, horror, adventure, even cartoons/graphic novels all contain the element of heroic perseverance over blockades restricting the tale’s equilibrium. In The Odyssey we see Odysseus must overcome a tremendous amount of trials to make it home to his wife and son. The quantity of trials that Odysseus must face would be far too much for a normal man, but not heroic Odysseus. He battles and outsmarts a host of fiends including Polyphemus, the sirens, Scylla and Charybdis (twice), and even the underworld itself.
Beowulf went through so much to prove he was worthy enough to protect their kingdom and defeat Grendel. The story Beowulf was a great story to read and a great movie to watch; however, the battles were very eye catching and had a lot of extravagant and heroic doings of Beowulf. The first scenario that I’m going to discuss in the movie and story of Beowulf is The Battle with Grendel. In the movie Grendel attacked Beowulf in the Heriot while everyone was dancing and singing.
Heroes need weapons to defeat their enemies, and it is no different for the hero Beowulf in the epic poem Beowulf. Beowulf uses all sorts of weapons throughout his many battles with monsters. Each weapon that he uses there is attached a cultural significance. There is a cultural significance attached to each weapon that he uses, ultimately aiding him in his survival and his killing of the beats. As he grows older, he needs to wear more armor and fight with stronger weapons to be able to kill his enemies.
Both authors paint a grotesque picture of their creations and how they both desire to destroy beauty; Aesthetic Iconoclasm, that is shared between the two figures. However, both authors present their monsters separate to one another in philosophy; with Grendel being a mindless savage and the Monster being more contemplative and questioning the nature of its own creation. ‘Monster’ characters have always been a target of both folk tales and pagan myths since the dawn of humanity, the very concept of a monstrous creature harkens back to the primal fear instinct of facing a dangerous predator that presents a danger to humanity. Grendel from Beowulf is the perfect example of this hysteria and
Hence, he put on a new appearance as snakes do. To show the general topic of evil, darkness symbolism is widely used throughout the play. The darkness is related with sleeping and sleep symbolizes night, the time of darkness, the death and personal conflict at dark. Shakespeare thinks that sleep involves the one’s whole life.
The archetype of hero is a literary character that is all-round good. He or she will save other people, do the right thing, protect that is good and they will fight any monster that comes to his or her way. They are one of the basic paradigms in tales and mythology from across the world, but especially in European culture. For example, the hero archetype starts from Achilles until Beowulf via superheros such as Superman and other 1980s action
Anakin Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader, was once a heroic Jedi Knight who was known as the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. He had broken the Jedi Order’s code, however, by secretly marrying the Senator Padmé Amidala. When he began to see visions that she would die in childbirth, he sought out for ways to prevent this fate. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Anakin’s mentor, claimed that the dark side would prevent Padmé and others who had Sith power from dying. One the lava planet Mustafar, Anakin (now know as Darth Vader) is forced to battle his former Master and friend Obi-Wan Kenobi, who tries his best to stop his .
For example, Darth Vader is in a way the leader of a group; he is never alone. His dictator like behaviour is feared by others especially when he says, “I find your lack of faith disturbing” (Star Wars, 1977), after which he strangles a fellow ally, thus proving his ability and power to hurt others. However, Darth Vader is also intelligent, skillful, and strategic because he does create a plan to destroy an entire planet. In addition, Darth Vader kidnaps Princess Leia, an act that requires courage, skill, strategy, and determination; these qualities can also be possessed by heroes. On the other hand, Adrian Veidt is known to be the “world’s smartest man” (Watchmen p.19).
Controlling minds of soldiers is another strength, Master Yoda was able to win battles by lifting the morale of thousands of allies and soldiers while simultaneously tampering the spirits of thousands of his enemies, using a valued Force technique called Battle Meditation. Throughout he battles against the enemies, Master Yoda displays skills that telekinetically lift enormous objects to fight, destroy enemies, and protect allies by stopping objects from falling into them, one of notable lift including a C-9979 Landing

The people that are demons or filled with greed and selfishness. These are the people that people like Beowulf fight for justice against. The first evil soul that Beowulf encounters is a demon whose name is Grendel. Grendel lives in the swamplands of Hrothgar’s kingdom and terrorizes the men in the Mead Hall. “So times were pleasant for the people there until finally one, a fiend out of hell, began to work his evil in the world”
