An Epic Hero is the main character of an Epic Poem who is far greater than the average man. Epic Hero's differ from ordinary warriors by their immense strength, unwavering bravery, and prominent battles with vile creatures. In this Epic, Beowulf proves to be a great warrior who possesses all of the traits of an Epic Hero.
Similar to all other Epic Heroes, Beowulf holds superhuman strength. Beowulf showed his strength when he grabbed the massive sword and “lifted it high over his head” during the battle with Grendel's mother. A sword that which no ordinary man could even budge from its imprisonment Beowulf easily wielded the sword, then used it to slice Grendel's Mother in half.
