Odysseus is astute and witty, as well as furiously faithful to his family and home. All through the book, Odysseus was totally centered around having a go at returning home to Ithaka and Penelope. His steadfastness to his family and to his kin is the thing that kept him experiencing the tough times. Nothing is more critical to an epic saint than honor and pride. Odysseus unmistakably demonstrates that he is faithful much of the time.
Sometimes ones greatest trait can also be the leading cause of their undoing. We see exactly that in the epic hero, Beowulf, of the anonymously written, Beowulf. As much as he is an epic hero, he is also a tragic one. His pride and excessive braveness lead him to fall while sacrificing himself to defeat a dragon, saving his kingdom. The story starts out with a monster Grendel, whom is said to be the decadence of Cain, awaking. This devilish monster goes on a rampage of pure evil killing everything in its sight which leaves the once great leader, Hrothgar, hopeless. Beowulf hears of this terrible monster and comes to the king’s rescue. Beowulf ends up defeating the monsters threatening the land and then the two great leaders form an alliance and become appreciative friends.
Beowulf was an amazing hero. His life was full of battles and epics that would take demy Gods to complete. Beowulf has conquered many tasks that would make many men see him as a God in the body of a man.
