People use perseverance and patience to become a hero in the end. I will be talking about "The charge of the light brigade" As they put their effort and perseverance into the battle already knowing the outcome of it. Also I will be talking about "Beowulf" as the protagonist perseveres in the fight with the monster Grendel not giving up until he had won the fight. An example of this is when Tennyson writes "HALF a league, half a league, Half a league onward". This use of repetition puts emphasis on the words creating a feeling of encouragement for the soldiers to keep going. The use of words "half a league" also illustrates how the soldiers went into the battle. This quote also creates a rhythm for the poem. We also see this when he writes. "Boldly they rode and well, into the jaws of death, Into the mouth of hell" The selection of the word boldly describes the soldier's reaction to going into the jaws death and the mouth of hell.
