Imagine this situation, there 's five seconds left on the shot clock and you 're only down by one point in the basketball game and it is for the high school state championship. Your teammate throws you the ball and you make a terrific skill move on the defender. He has been shaken off and you get just enough breathing room to shoot the ball. You chuck the ball up knowing that this is either going to be one of the greatest moments of your life and that you might not ever forget it or possibly the most devastating. The ball is swiftly flying through the air heading straight on line with the basket then hits the back of the rim, bounces out, and the buzzer sounds. This is an event in your life that you probably will not forget but are you going …show more content…
Jesus gave his life and died on the cross so that everyone alive can live, and if someone gave their one and only life just to let people live then you can sure as heck believe i 'm going to live for him. June 17, 2012 I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This is one of the greatest moments that I have ever made in my life. I was baptized by my youth minister at the time Chad Monahan, he was a great role model to me and that is why I choose him to baptize me. This "bomb" affected me in my relationships with everyone and I 've been much happier since I made this decision. This "bomb" is a beautiful one because it has changed my life in multiple ways. It has taken me closer to Jesus …show more content…
Tanner moved into college at the University of Arkansas dorms this past weekend, and it made me realize how much I relied on him. I will see him again soon for sure but Tanner has been the ideal big brother for me. Tanner is just like me but a year and two weeks older, I learned so much knowledge from him and still am to this day. Tanner and I played all the same sports because I wanted to do exactly what he did. Even when we were little running around the house trying to ride our bikes I wanted to do what he was doing and learn from him and no one else because he was my role model back then and still is to this day. Tanner and I still bicker at each other every now and then, but that 's just because we 're brothers and very competitive with one another. When I said my last goodbye for awhile to Tanner I felt kind of lost like I didn 't know what I was losing at the moment. I 'm starting to realize I can live without him it just isn 't the same because I don 't have my best friend to be by my side most of the time. I 'm still going through this "bomb" because he just moved but I will have to overcome it because he won 't always be in the same household as me when we grow old. It is valuable to have bombs in your life because they can teach you life lessons. These bombs stick to you like glue, but if they are not delightful then why should you dread over them? You shouldn
If we want to win, we need to just go get the rebound, or go dive on the floor for a loose ball. It does not matter how; all that matters is that we need to just go get the ball. It is when the ball is in the air that the game plan goes out the window, and whoever wants the rebound more is going to succeed. This is why I love basketball, because when the game becomes close and it comes down to effort, I know that no one is going to outwork me for the ball. We could have played badly and not gotten any calls from the referees all game, but it doesn’t matter, because if the game is close at the end, one’s internal drive to accomplish what they want could still propel them to achieving
After a 30 second timeout, the ball was in bounds and as expected, given to Lebron James. The Spurs swarmed him as he stood at the three-point line to shoot the ball. When the ball left his hands, the arena went silent and everyone stood to their feet. The ball hit the rim,
Commonly known as a “gun type bomb” the Little Boy bomb devastated the city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. This was know as the “gun type bomb” because it actually contained a gun inside of the nuclear bomb. This weapon was a big risk for the B-29’s because it was the first ever atomic bomb dropped. Also, the bomb was wide ranged so the pilot who dropped the bomb felt some of the explosion. Little Boy was followed by an explosion of the Fat Boy bomb just three days later south of Hiroshima.
The referee blows his whistle and I start to lead the ball down the court. I glance over and see a split down the middle of the court, exactly what we needed. I dribble the ball the middle of the paint, right as I see the defenders start to cut me off. I make a sharp cut, turn, and pass the ball right to my shooting guard. He takes the ball in his hand and swiftly goes up and makes the three.
The bomb was thrown because people wanted an eight hour work day. Advantages for the workers was that they got better pay and hours. Disadvantages were that their bosses had to give them more pay and better hours so things probably didn’t get done as
“There are voices which assert that the bomb should never have been used at all. I cannot associate myself with such ideas,” said Winston Churchill. During the World War II, the Americans had made a significant decision that they had dropped two fatal bombs onto mainland Japan. On August 6, 1945, 8:15 A.M., the first atomic bomb “Little Boy” was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, causing 70,000 Japanese citizens vaporize and addition of 100,000 perished from radiation sickness. Three days later, August 9, 1945, the second bomb “Fat Man” was dropped on Nagasaki, where 80,000 citizens wiped out.
In The Other Wes Moore, the other Wes’s brother Tony played a massive role in the development of his decisions and his character. While it was often destructive and led to poor decisions, the other Wes looked up to Tony for help, guidance, and fortitude. I think Brayden does the same with me, and I don’t want to lead him down the wrong path like Tony did to Wes. Moving off to college has been a difficult time of transition; we went from seeing each other daily to only seeing each other a couple times a month. However, even though we don’t get to see each other as much, I feel like the times when we are together are even more meaningful; we can discuss life’s toughest problems and questions that any 15-year-old can face.
The only question is whether you will remember it with the smells and sounds of the stadium surrounded by 100,000 strangers, or in the comfort of your cave with your best
This bomb contained napalm, a highly flammable sticky substance consisting of gasoline thickened with special soaps, and phosphorous jelly. The napalm strike resulted in the small village being burned down, and several people dying due to severe burns. This photo has an effect on me, and definitely
The bombs acted as a quick solution to end all conflict. Without it the war could have lasted several years longer and caused the unneeded taking of millions of
I owe my success to my failures, and I’m very grateful for them. The biggest failure of my life was when I tore my ACL. Without this major blow to my football career, I wouldn’t have had a football career at all. In my trials and tribulations I found myself, like steel that’s been tested in fire.
The American B-29 bomber circled over the Japanese mainland, reaching 31,000 feet. Then, the crew dropped the first atomic bomb used in wartime, nicknamed "Little Boy," on the city of Hiroshima. It was detonated at 1,900 feet, and sent a mushroom cloud rising ominously into the sky; 70,000 people died in a matter of seconds. Imagine the people that either survived or that were soon to be born, and the fear that the atomic bomb had on them. Robert Cormier used the motif of the atom bomb in his book, Tunes for Bears to Dance To.
At the same time a whistle echoes through the bleachers, as fans cheer and boo. Mean time the shot goes in. Could this be the win? That's when you see the refs call, the player had stepped out of bounce, turning the ball over to the other team. Have you ever played a high school sport?
Most transformative moments in life can be caused by the smallest of occurrences in life. Often people do not even realize that a pivotal moment in their life is happening. Someone may realize when they are mature enough that there was one special moment during their childhood that ultimately determined their lifelong goal. For others, they probably realized an “aha” moment right when it happened and from then on decided that they knew what they want to accomplish later on. I actually have taken from both sides of the spectrum from realizing that one special transformative moment but also not even knowing that it would end up steering me towards my current career choice.
Surviving in High School “The journey doesn’t start at the beginning, begins at the end.” School is one of the most memorable moments you will experience in your life, are those moments when you find a second family in your life called “classmates”, they start being strangers to classmates, classmates to friends and friends to brothers and sisters, you spent every single day of your life for more or less 2 years of your life that you start to know them more than anybody. I study in Colegio De La Salle in Panama City, Panama. My years in De La Salle are priceless, because it’s the place where I grew up as a student and the most importan as an Human being. During my time in De La Salle I found “Ma Squad” that’s how we call our group back in Panama, where we experience and pass so many things together.
