Writing Performance Task Unit 2 In the articles “What could be better than a touchdown,” and “Why we run,” it talks about the importance of mental strength and physical prowess. The question is, “Is mental strength and physical prowess equal? or Is one more important than the other?” Mental strength is more important than physical prowess. Mental strength is more important than physical prowess because a person needs to be able to strategize or fight for something rather than to actually be fit and physically able to do something. To begin with, the article, “What Could Be Better than A Touchdown,” shows how mental power is more important than physical agility Sanneh shows why we need mental strength and why it is important. He describes …show more content…
Instead of thinking of strategies to use they were paying attention on the touchdown. To illustrate my point, The author shows how one of the players, Dwight Lowery, got a touchdown for his team. “. . . Dwight Lowery, has been watching the play unfold. He breaks towards the ball, intercepts it, and dashes twenty-six yards into the end zone. Touchdown!” (Sanneh 57). Dwight Lowery was mentally prepared to get the ball. Instead of just doing what the coach said he stood watching thinking of what he was going to do. In fact, Sanneh explains how in football it isn’t always correct to score a touchdown. “There are a few situations in football where scoring an easy touchdown is the wrong thing to do. Might this have been one of them?” (Sanneh 57). If the Vikings had been thinking about what to do and knew strategies, this would not have happened, but they were so busy thinking about making the actual touchdown than thinking if it was the right thing to do or not. They were physically able to do this, but not mentally prepared. The excerpt, “Why We Run,” shows how mental strength and physical prowess ably in human and animal life, doesn’t a person or animal need to be able to know what they are going to do and …show more content…
Are both equally important or is one more important than the other? After reading this article you learned that mental strength is more important than physical prowess. The reason why mental strength is more important than physical prowess is because it is more important to think or know what is going to happen than be able to do what is going to
On Friday night, the annual Ely TIgers vs. DIllard Panthers football game was played. On the last play of the 4th quarter, Donnell Wilson made a touchdown pass that won the game. Although some say that the catch was not that great, I think it was due to the fact that he passed his defensive back, leaped to make the catch, and scored the winning touchdown. Part of what made this a great catch was Donnell leaping into the air to catch it. “Wilson made a leaping catch and landed safely in the end-zone capping an improbable come from behind win for the Tigers.”
“The quarterback hands the ball off to the running back, the running back runs up the field, faking right, dodging left, running right through the other team’s defense. He’s going, going…GONE! TOUCHDOWN!!” Agh, good ole football, America’s favorite pastime. Especially, at James Madison University where their Dukes are 7-1!
Football DBQ The Ely Tigers versed the Dillard Panthers. They had an instant win at the end of their football game. They don’t know if it was a lucky catch or if it was a skilled catch. From reading through all of these documents from the story, they proved that Donnell Wilson caught the winning touchdown because it was a clean catch, didn’t have a penalty, and he caught it across the touchdown line.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford was quoted in a recent report by Bleeding Green Nation’s Brandon Lee Gowton saying “I’m just excited to get back out there. I think there are some butterflies in there getting back out on the field knowing that I’m going to take a few hits, take them, get up, and get going again." Bradford’s eagerness to absorb blows was challenged early in the Eagles’ 40-17 preseason victory over the Baltimore Ravens at Lincoln Financial Field. During Philadelphia’s first drive, the Ravens struck the Oklahoma alum twice as nose tackle Brandon Williams exploded into Bradford’s chest, and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs took a perceived dirty shot at the oft-injured quarterback’s knee on a read option.
Ironically, Tittle is remembered best for a gimmick: the “alley-oop” play, where he would team up with the 6-foot-3 acrobatic receiver R.C. Owens on a pass play born by accident, and became a calculated pass play. Tittle would loft a high, usually high wobbly 35-45-yard pass, and Owens would out- leap his defenders, just as he did as a hoopster in college. But for Tittle, the 1957 season was one of triumph and agony. Last second victories became a 49ers trademark. “We won five games in the last couple of minutes,” said Tittle.
Introduction Practice Cade Cam Newton scored his first touchdown of the season. He headed to the back of the end zone for his signature celebration (Dabbing). The officials throw a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Roger Goodell has changed so many things and most NFL players don’t agree with them. Roger Goodell needs to quit banning celebrations and changing the NFL.
“ If you are just tuning in to ESPN, this is Alabama versus LSU with 15 seconds left in the 4th quarter, Alabama ball at LSU’s 5 yard line, tie game, 21-21.” Tyrann Mathieu, the freshman cornerback is lined up in 1 on 1 coverage against Amari Cooper, an all american wide receiver for Alabama. Alabama urgently snaps the ball, Amari Cooper joggs up and makes a quick move to the inside, looking for the ball to be passed to him. The Quarterback steps out of the pocket and rolls out to the right. The quarterback throws it in Amari Cooper 's direction.
Looking at each individual strength, I am reminded of different aspects of my life where that strength is used. My first two of Futuristic and Context are very interrelated in my mind, and without question are two of my biggest strengths. It seems as though most of my time is spent either reflecting on past events or thinking about what is to come in the future. I examine what I and others have done in the past to see what worked and what failed. I then take that into account whenever I make future decisions.
The most prominent characteristic of a hero is their strength.
While Pat Boone’s cover of “Ain’t That a Shame” (1955), originally performed by Fats Domino, has many similarities to the original, there are a few differences that alter the song and arguably its meaning. Although the two versions have nearly the same rhythm, harmony, and form; the groove, vocal delivery, and a subtle lyric change make the two versions of the song quite distinct. Because of these differences, the Fats Domino version of the song has a much more easygoing and optimistic vibe than the Pat Boone cover, which seemingly puts more emphasis on the heartbreak described in the lyrics. Additionally, the alterations Pat Boone made to the original song allows him to appeal more to a white, conservative audience. Despite Pat Boone putting

Nevertheless, it is the way that friction is approached that makes a difference. By applying my positive attitude and sense of finding a common ground among coworkers, it will enable me to apply this strength to my daily life. Lastly, the strength of achiever was a lesser theme for me compared to my other top strengths. I sometimes take on too many tasks and want to accomplish many things in order to make me feel good about myself. I am extremely committed to everything I do and influence others to succeed in what they do.
The Eighty Yard Run by Irwin Shaw is about two main characters, Christian Darling who it a college running back who plays at Midwestern University and his girlfriend Louise Tucker, who also goes to the same college. This short story starts with a description of a run that was made during a practice but he is recreating it in his mind to make it seem like it was in a game. He is recreating the entire play 15 years later while sitting on the same practice field that it had originally happened. In this story Christian wants to go back to time where everything was a simple as just playing football, being with his girlfriend, and going to school. Irwin Shaw seems to portray that you should not but all your eggs into one basket like Christian does with football.
Owe to the development of technology, the quality of our lives has increased in a great extent. Our daily lives are now more and more convenient and pleasant since most of the tasks can be done more efficiently with the help of technologies like smartphones and the Internet; furthermore, some difficult tasks can even be done completely by robots. However, various social issues appear inevitably along the advancement of the civilization. People started to wonder whether they rely on technology way too excessively as an outcome when they realized one may feel lost and disconnected without technologies like the Internet and cellphones. It has become an universal debate: Is the technology transforming our civilization into Utopia?
but the ball was slippery for the quarterback and he keep on stumbling with the ball and he kept on fumbling but we tried to still get the ball back and they still got it back. They threw the ball right over us and there wide receiver caught the ball Still and we tried to play defense and we got beat every time.
