As the newly elected Sheriff of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department, I will first hold a departmental meeting to introduce myself. I will provide a brief description of my professional qualifications and where I worked. I will provide my educational background, training and/or certifications. I will outline a brief description of my responsibilities as the newly elected sheriff to the staff.
Second, I would assess the department for strengths and weaknesses. According to Stark (2009), this is an important start to beginning an organizational change. During this assessment, I will research data records, dispatch calls, internal and external complaints of each personnel, patrol and office operations, strengths and weaknesses of management

In this meeting, I will address the discoveries from the scenario. A very loosely managed and controlled organization. Each department works interchangeably with other departments. Every department needs to evaluate the process of how their department is following the guidelines. There is no room for inconsistency (Thompson, S., n.d). There need to be measurable goals for each person to hold them accountable for their achievements and also to assess where they need to improve. If training or clarification is needed, management needs to work with the employee or team to establish a need for action. This will address the training is a haphazard issue. Employees might have transferred from other departments or come from other facilities. Reevaluating the workflow and figure if it is efficient and effective, if not need to revise and update. As for the supervision is nearly nonexistent and deputies are coming and going as they want needs to be addressed. I would need to evaluate the reasons there is no supervisor present at all times. If there are duties or obligations taking the deputies and supervisors away from their daily activities, I need to address the issue. I will readdress and emphasize the department's attendance and punctuality
How can we improve the training? For training to be operative, it can't stand on its own, but should be part of an overall development strategy that results in creating an infrastructure of

Programs he 's most proud of include, instituting all school districts in the county have a school resource officer, the pistol safety course now offered to residents and the creation of the drug task force including the drug tip line. "A lot of our successes were done with all of us and I think Sheriff-elect Allard will follow through on all of the stuff, he has a lot of great ideas himself, he 's a real smart guy," says Sheriff Cole. Sheriff Cole says he 'll miss the friendship and community between fellow law enforcement agencies the most." One of the things I tried to promote is the comrodary between departments with having the State Police and the Sheriff 's Office and the police departments all work toegther in various cases.
(2) I want to draw your attention to Page SG1-6, 4.b. People Listen to each other, 4.e. Officers and Chiefs get out and about, 4.f Personal issues are addressed, 5.b Relationships with Seniors (most notably the paragraph on morning meetings), and Page SG2-4 Responsibility, Authority, and Accountability (RAA). There are several workshop problems in Section 4 on decision making (4-1-1).
would have had to deal with the aftermath consequences. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell made the decision to locate Lleweyln Moss to try and protect him. Bell doesn’t realize the seriousness of the situation. He explain that he doesn’t understand this crime. Bell knew that Moss was in a great deal of danger but he wanted to help him still.
Personally, I believe an open line of communication is key to a great environment. If the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing, there is bound to be trouble brewing. 9. What is the overall action plan? Mission?
Before the question can be answered, it’s important to know the key difference between a sheriff and chief. Sheriffs are elected officials appointed by the people through a vote in their county. On the other hand, a chief is selected by a government individual (National Sheriffs ' Association, 2015). The chief acts as the head of the police department and should have extensive knowledge on how things are done. However, it is city officials who make the final decision on what happens.
More than twelve hundred years ago, the country we now call England was inhabited by small groups of Anglo-Saxons who lived in rural communities called Tuns. Tun is the source of the modern English word town. These Anglo-Saxons were often at war. Sometime before the year 700, they decided to systematize their methods of fighting by forming a system of local self-government based on groups of ten.
They don't understand without these police officers it would be chaos without any order, but a result from this is technical advancements like the camera on the officer's chest that records video and audio helps solve little problems people claim. The types of vehicles they drive are way different. Troopers drive chargers or suv’s and most sheriffs drive older impalas, vans, or a suv’s most of the troopers have newer cars mainly because they are funded by the state that's another benefit I really like the retirement and benefits the state gives you are awesome for you and your
The basic duty of a sheriff is to ensure that the laws of the U.S. Constitution are upheld. The oath of office of every sheriff includes the promise to defend, obey and uphold the U.S. Constitution and the rights granted to all American citizens. A county sheriff must accomplish duties with the support of their citizens in mind. These duties include, investigating illegal and suspicious activities, transporting defendants and prisoners to courtrooms and jails, manage jail operations
Maintaining staff training schedules weekly and monthly and maintaining the quality of work needed that service levels will be reached as defined. Performing checks among those areas involved weekly will ensure that service levels are being met, and the compliance system is being maintained with the proper training. It should be done monthly for the corporate offices and employees. It will be imperative that all legal, contractual and regulatory goals are met by the employees involved in the new compliance system and policies. If all people involved do not attend training sessions then, it will greatly impact the measurable organizational value of the overall
Carol Sheriff is all about the industrial and economic progress, that’s her focus in 1812 and the beginning of the Civil war. A few of the topics during this time, market expansion, rapid environmental change, and economic development. I will be discussing important times, the building of the artificial river, and politics. July 4, 1817, near Rome, New York, the first digging happened. New York began construction on what was to be one of the largest artificial waterways in the world.
As the Greenfield Police Department chief, what changes would you implement to improve morale and increase motivation among officers not pursuing supervisory positions? I would go back to monthly awards but tailor them around community policing. If officers are not interested in pursuing supervisory positions they need additional motivation to showing up for work and giving it 100%. Is resistance to change a sign of low morale and lack of motivation?
For example, a safety-training may design for a qualify test, and it only suit the level 2(Giangreco, et al., 2010). Therefore, without significant information to do the evaluation, it also will achieve the expected results. Thirdly, the ROI is not appropriate for all training such as interpersonal skills training (Kumpikaitė, 2007). The outcomes of some training lack of visibility, it may not directly improve the financial performance. There may be a situation of organization underestimating the efficiency of some useful training programs, when ROI is used to assess the training
Managers should be transparent with their teams on what the expectations are and this includes having defined roles and responsibilities for each team member (Stinton, 2013). Accountability is a prerequisite to establishing successful cross-company collaboration (Boot, 2014). There needs to be commitment behind the company’s goals and objectives and each employee needs to feel a personal commitment towards his/her contributions (Boot, 2014). To this end, when working on teams, ensure there is a shared purpose that team members are actively collaborating together in achieving (Boot, 2014). Employees should feel empowered to the point of feeling accountable and in charge of their own
