I believe that there is a higher power. Krishna lectures Arjuna on filling his dharma to be a warrior and by fulfilling his dharma, he becomes aligned with the higher power. I believe that my life does derive meaning from its place in the grand scheme of things.
In Hinduism, fulfilling your dharma, or doing right thing, allows you to engage with the higher power. This way, we feel obligated to stay true to who we are. The closer you are to being morally just or right, the closer you are to God or the higher power. In Krishna terms, this is how you are close to filling your dharma. In Taylor’s terms, the more authentic you are, the truer you are to yourself. In the Bhagavad Gita’s terms, it’s only good to be true to yourself insofar as, in

I also feel that being a Christian allows me to be a better friend to others, a better sister, and daughter. This relates to the Bhagavad Gita by I, myself, being afraid of letting others down in certain situations, just like Arjuna is afraid of letting entering the war against his parents. Some people generally do things just to help others, where others do it to gain trust. Tay
I believe that my life does derive meaning from its place in the grand scheme of things. I understand my relationship to the greater purpose behind things by giving God my time. My life gains meaning from its relationship to divine reality by doing things that benefit my life and also benefit others lives. For example, being a good friend offers
Some aspects of your life have more meaning due to having more impactful results. Buying materialistic things that you don’t need, picking up a penny, etc. are outweighed by things like pursuing an education, having a child etc. The reason why some aspects of life outweigh others is because it is teaching you skills that you can use, in the future, to better others. Bettering others helps furthers others lives as well as bettering yours. For example, being a tutor you think would only help the student, however, it benefits the tutor just as much by gaining better communication
For example, if you’re a high school girl and you spend your whole life comparing yourself to others, it is most likely not bringing you any benefits. This is true if you’re telling
How I see it, is that having something to be passionate about and to believe in helps people have a sense of control and appreciation. It lets them always have an answer to everything. This theme impacts our life greatly because it lets those who believe in God always have hope and it lets them believe that things will turn out alright. I think this concept is important because sometimes when you believe in something and focus on the positive, the negative hurts less. It affects my personal life because it's fascinating.
The Epic of Gilgamesh and Bhagavad Gita examine how life should be lived. The Epic of Gilgamesh discuss how people should live their lives to the fullest and leave a legacy behind because once they die, their life is over; “He entered the city and asked a blind man if he ever heard the name Enkidu, and the old man shrugged and shook his head,” (Gilgamesh). As soon as Enkidu died, no one knew who he was because he did not leave a legacy behind. The only way to be remembered was to make an impact on the townspeople's’ lives so they would continue to speak about you even after death. However, in Bhagavad Gita they discuss how one should live their life selflessly and for others because the goal is to be reincarnated into a human being again and
Either way we live a life of self enlightenment, each minute we delve deeper into who we are learning our place in life. Yes some of us do end up leading lives to help others and some have more self centered bureaucratic jobs, but in the end it is the journey that is us, that is our lives. Not to say that everyone completes that journey and receives the full out come, but none the less they have traveled the path of
Through my relationship with Christ, I have learned who I really am and know my purpose in life. Simply put, it is through service to others that one finds an identity; consequently, enriching the community becomes the only sensible mission in life. This is why I am grateful for the Beyond the Bridges Ministry. It gives legs to my personal mission and allows me to bless the community through service.
Have you ever wondered why life was created and what your purpose is? Well, you probably have, you just don’t remember it. We ask ourselves a variety of questions every day. It might be a simple or hard question you are facing throughout the day, but the answer is the main thing you need to remember. The meaning of life is more than just a simple question like the others we ask ourselves.
The final meaning of life according to Hinduism is Moksha or enlightenment. Moksha is the most difficult meaning of life to achieve, and rarely it may only take an individual just one lifetime to accomplish but it usually takes several. Although it is one of the most difficult to achieve, it is considered the most important meaning of life and offers many rewards such as liberation from reincarnation, self-realization, enlightenment, or unity with God. (Sivakumar, 2014,
Leading a human life is a full-time occupation, to which everyone devotes decades of intense concern.” (Nagel, 719) Nagel also argues that we all reflect about whether life is worth it or not. To avoid this this absurdity, we try to give meaning to our lives through what we do “seeking fulfillment in service to society, the state, the revolution, the progress of history, the advance of science, or religion and the glory of God.” (Nagel, 720) But this leads to the conflict that if this thing that gives meaning to our life, it must be significant.
Bhagavad Gita vs. Book of Genesis Being born in a traditional Indian family I was taught about hinduism and its religious text, The Bhagavad Gita. It is said that Gita holds answers to all of life’s questions and by reading it one can attain the eternal peace and freedom from stressors. This was very interesting to me as a kid growing up in America, which is the center of diverse religions and cultures. I was introduced to not only Hinduism but to several others, like christianity, islam and judaism to name a few. Comparing and contrasting two sacred scriptures, The Bhagavad Gita and The Book of Genesis, reveals that even though these scriptures belong to different religions the theme that God created the earth and universe are the same.
For my final project, I will write a poem that exhibits characteristic of the three novels The Bhagavad-Gita by , The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B DuBois , and An Account, Much Abbreviated, of the Destruction of the Indies by Bartolome de Las Casas. All three novels share a common theme that associates with the quest in choosing identity, containing metaphors for the journey of the soul from an individual's time, place and attachments to an intangible perspective. During this time in particular, human existence and the factors of love, and faith are questioned. They are questioned so much so that people now long to return to the time when love and compassion for other existed. We see this in present day, communities all over the world trying
What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person’s life at a given moment” (Frankl, p. 108). The meaning of life, when used as a general term, has a broad definition because of its ever-changing nature. However, the true definition of the meaning of life is supposed to be established on an individual basis. It’s the events going on in your personal life at that moment in time that defines what meaning is. “To put the question in general terms would be comparable to the question posed to a chess champion: ‘Tell me, Master, what is the best move in the world?’”
My definition of knowledge is a true fact or justified belief that is acquired through a persons experience and education. To a great extent, faith does play a role in deciding if knowledge we acquire has purpose and meaning in our lives however, sometimes faith does not play a role. Personal lives refers to our day to day life and how knowledge provides us with meaning and purpose in it. Its how we take shared knowledge and apply it to our individual perceptions and perspectives of our lives. Knowledge provides with the understanding of the world and gives us meaning in life.
So everything that we do, every action and decision that we make is in the assumption that there is something “good” to come of it because that is what we are all working and living for. The purpose and the function of our lives is more that just survival in a physical sense but of having a rational soul which means using our reason excellently. The only way for us to achieve true happiness is for us to develop our
Furthermore, stepping back from this specific suggestion of the meaning of the quote stated by Krishna, in a general scope, it could potentially represent the importance of making efforts to retie the connection of dharma and yoga with humans, to be spiritually connected to the Gods. Throughout all the pages, there is a lot of advice provided to individuals to be more obedient and lose oneself to the beautiful teachings, to live an improved lifestyle. Firstly, the Blessed One states to Arjuna that the “they say that the senses are crucial; and the mind more crucial than the senses; and even more crucial than the mind is insight; and much more crucial than insight, is the self”, emphasizing the importance of cleansing one’s spiritual state through the soul. (Patton, 47) In my opinion, I understand the self to not merely represent a physical body, rather it be the soul, as in the text, the Blessed One differentiates between these two identities through characterization, stating that “the self is not born nor does it ever die.
Therefore, When we give meaning to our life, I believe we also have to be realistic and focus on our meaning for living and set concrete goals. If we set our meaning of life to becoming the biggest super model in the world yet you 're not working towards it or you just set an unrealistic goal. Then eventually that 's going to alter your life 's meaning and cause you to live in Denial, and unhappy. Our life 's meaning comes from within us it 's something we have to think hard
