Biofuels are becoming an increasingly important alternative to traditional forms of energy
Even though production of biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, is rapidly increasing, their contribution to total fuel consumption will remain limited. Biofuels are sources of energy produced directly or indirectly from organic material including animal waste and plant material. In order to be considered a biofuel, at least 80% of the fuel must be made from renewable materials. There are 3 main types of biofuels: ethanol, biodiesel and biojet fuel. These would be: the cost, the fact that there is an unlimited supply of resources to make the fuel with, it’s a renewable source that benefits our environment and it leads to economic stimulation and. First of all, the cost is an advantage since biofuels have to potential to be significantly less expensive than petroleum or any fossil fuel. This is possible due to the increasing worldwide demand for oil. Meanwhile, the supply for oil is diminishing, making biofuels more desirable whilst the prices are constantly fluctuating. Whereas fossil fuels are limited since they come from specific materials years ago, biofuels are renewable (since you can always produce more if it runs out) and can be manufactured from a variety of materials such as: crop waste, manure and other byproducts. This takes recycling to a new constructive level. Likewise, the amount of carbon emissions will also decrease drastically since when biofuels are used, they produce significantly less carbon and fewer toxins. This also makes them a safer alternative in order to preserve atmospheric quality and lower air pollution. In terms of economic stimulation, the economy will find stability as when using biofuels you can disregard afore mentioned fluctuating oil prices due to change in demand. Fracking also creates more American jobs. This is a great plus for a country that needs more homebound jobs in a recovering economy whose jobs are going to other nations like China. Texas is known for its agricultural land, especially in West Texas, and can expand biomass energy and reduce the use of non-renewable resources. For example, “Texas also has several biogas facilities that recycle organic waste into renewable energy” (U.S. Energy Information Administration, Page 4). 8 Not only is this energy source renewable but it is recycling waste into a valuable resource. Hydraulic fracking has also caused a huge increase in employment by about 67% due to the technology that is being used. (Rinkesh) In the future not only will more oil be easier to get, but it may also reduce the levels of air pollution, which could result in global warming to go down a bit.
The world is in need of fossil fuels. Without them, we would not have cars, airplanes, and not to mention enough energy. A lot of energy is produced from them. They are a very big support. Unfortunately, they are running out.
Imagine a world where we have used up all of our nonrenewable resources and no longer have gas to power our cars, no coal to make energy, and no natural gas to power you household items. Well it might not be too hard to imagine, because it is predicted that in less than 75 years we will use up all of our natural gas, oil, and coal deposits. This is just one of many reasons that the government needs to put more funding into green energy. They not only need funding to find new sources of renewable energy but they also need to invest more in products that produce clean energy like solar panels, windmills, and turbines in dams. Climate change has been a center of attention for many years now, however it seems that very few changes have been made to slow or stop it.
