My inspiration for my Famous Latino essay is Enrique Iglesias. I have selected him because he is someone who my family has been listening too for years since I was born. Enrique Iglesias full name is Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler. He was born in Madrid, Spain on May 8, 1975. His mother is Isabel Preysler and his father is Julio Iglesias. He is the youngest out of his two older siblings. His older sister is Chabeli Iglesias and his older brother is Julio Iglesias Jr. He and his two older siblings used to live with their mother but in 1986, his grandfather, Dr. Julio Iglesias Puga, was kidnapped by the armed Basque terrorist group ETA. After that, he was signed on to Fonovisa Records. He dropped out of college and then went to record his first album (which was dedicated to his nanny) in Toronto. Enrique soon became famous and went on to be widely regarded as the King of Latin Pop. He has influenced my life because he wanted to seek popularity by himself without the help of his father. If he wanted he could off asked his father for help but instead chose to do it all by himself. He showed us that we can carry out our dreams if we try hard enough. He has supported 8 charities and has supported 15 causes. He has supported City of Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Help for Heroes, Live Earth, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Music for Relief, Special Olympics, and The Salvation Army. The causes he has supported are Abuse, AIDS and HIV, ALS, At-Risk/Disadvantaged Youths, Cancer, Disaster Relief, Environment, Family/Parent Support, Grief Support, Health, Homelessness, Mental Challenges, Physical Challenges, Senior Citizen Support, and Veteran/Service Member
