Identification of Concepts/Theories

1. Concepts

• Biostatistics could be seen and defined as the application of statistics to several topics in public health supply chain management. In general term, biostatistics is just all about converting data into useful information for decision making in public health supply chain management and logistics programs. Biostatistics in Public Health Supply chain management could be very useful as this is seen in daily activities in all statistics related activities used to support assertions about our health programs and …show more content…

Biostatistics could also play a paramount importance in determining all the factors affecting our health which are not valid and which are either supported or not by the data, which could be based on experimental design and observation.

• The concept of descriptive statistics which is also known as deductive statistics in public health supply chain management which merely describe, organize or summarize data and it refers to actual data available in any successful programs.

This is applicable to public health supply chain management which is describe as blood pattern of clients, disease prevalence in a community of an LGA and case report which can help us to forecast for how many people that will need a particular products especially those that are closely related to the above named disease …show more content…

This concept could be seen on daily basis being applied in the laboratory and pharmacy or other service delivery points where screening tests are conducted.

• The concept of predictive value positive of a screening test or symptom can be seen as the probability that a person has a disease given that the screening test is positive or has the symptom. This is very important in public health HIV counselling and testing (HCT), RDT testing etc.

The concept is applicable in supply chain management when a client that is tested positive for HIV/AIDS went to confirm the test result even when the algorithm (Serial not parallel) are properly followed. Such a client will still be tested positive.

• The concepts of statistical significance in supply chain management and logistics tell us how sure a difference or relationship exists. It also tells us whether the type of data is correct or wrong. This could be achieved and attained when a p-value is less than the significant
