Black Lives Matter Movement The Black Lives Matter movement or BLM Movement is a protest that was originated by the African American community to protest against violent racism towards African American . It began when a white male named George Zimmerman supposably shot and killed a young African American teenager named Trayvon Martin. It started a lot of controversy in 2013. It all grew even larger after African Americans Michael Brown and Eric Garner were also killed by a white officer in 2014. In 2015 and 2016 there were more incidents that happened that reminded the BLM Movement society that it won 't stop unless there is action taken.
Many of you may know the sad story of Trayvon Martin, but for those who do not please listen carefully. Trayvon Marin was a seventeen-year-old boy that was killed by the neighborhood watch leader. Martin was staying at his father’s home that was located in a predominately white neighborhood. On February 26,2012, Martin took a walk to the gas station and purchased a pack of skittles and ice tea and unfortunately on this very same night Trayvon did not return home. Has anyone taken the time to sit back and watch how America’s judicial system tries to slip the racial injustice towards African Americans under the rug.
The best example is the death of an international student Sai Kiran Goud .On June 15, 2015 this 21 year male, doing his masters at the university in Miami was apparently waylaid by a group of black Americans. In this incident the innocence Goud was murdered and his family is having a great shock when they came to know that his only son was murdered at Florida.
Almost five years ago, George Zimmerman was charged for the second degree murder of a 17-year-old boy, Trayvon Martin. Trayvon was murdered whilst casually walking from the store where he purchased a packet of sweets and ice tea. The volunteer neighbourhood watch captain, Zimmerman, stated the murder as a self-defence after a fracas. This eventually led to people questioning their roles in society, whether the white race was “more important” than the pigmented. This was the birth of the movement titled Black Lives Matter.
