According to dictonary.com equality means like or alike in quanity, value, ect.; of the same rank, ability, merit, etc (Equality). The mission statement of the Black Lives Movement is “a chapter- based national organization working for the validity of Black life. We are working to rebuild the Black liberation movement.” (Black Live Matter) The mission statement for All Lives Matter has to do with the fact that everyone has a right no matter what stage of life they are in, what social or economic class they belong to or what race, religion or gender they are. This is something that the United States has struggled with for years and it will continue to be one until we address both sides and hear both arguments. Having the police officers armed is one of their jobs but I do believe that there is some bad people that are police officers out there and they want to do bad things with the power that is given to them. Taking these people out of this situation I think that the Black Lives Matter movement would still be complaining about the things happening to their race due to the fact that some people can never be content with enough. I do think that the Black Lives Matter movement does have a right to be upset with that is going on in the world today with the violence that some police officers are over using their power for bad. My feelings towards the body camera fight is that I think it is a smart idea but i think that using money to do this is not the smartest thing especially with all of the downfalls that it has with it. I believe that this money can be spent in other places that could potentially help both the black community and the white community around the nation. I don’t believe that these fights and opinions will go away anytime soon but living so close to the riots that happened in Ferguson I do believe that getting correct information could save a lot of time, money and most importantly
“Black Lives Matter “is a recent example of Black Rhetoric within the media. Dating back to the unfortunate events that took place in Ferguson with the shooting of a young black male named Michael Brown, the even has grown infamously and famously depending on which side you tend to agree with. Countless people have given their input on the situation and not all blacks tend to agree with the movement of “Black Lives Matter”. Recently a women named Peggy Hubbard went on a rant about how she felt the movement was an unjust movement. Ms. Hubbard stated that saying black lives matter was implying that no other lives within the community mattered.
Black Lives Matter is a social movement that has attracted many civilans in the United states. The purpose of the movement is to inform people about police brutality against black people. The movement wants people to be aware of the injustice being done to black people by law inforcement and goverment officals. Many people are taking this into consideration becuse African Americans have been mistreaded in the past and still are in present day.
Black lives matter movement should also argue, stop black on black crime. There are lots of violence going on today, particularly within our own community. We have young black men killing each other over drugs and other nonsense that may torment our community. Not to mention, the constant reminder of the black on black crime that is plastered on the news daily. It saddens me to know our ancestors endured so much hardship and we turn around and kill one another.
Black Lives Matter began as a action in response to violence and anti-Black racism. The intention of this group was to allow Black people from all over the world who have a shared wish for justice
(Police staff) So many cops are planning on turning more towards them. This relates back because video truly is what happened you can 't change the video on the card when it comes out of the body camera and onto a computer to be played in front of everyone. The bad things about body cameras are there price. They say they are too expensive.
The police expected the charges to drop after dismissing charges against some of the arrested protesters, but that didn’t happen, the lawsuit is still ongoing. The people who were arrested and let go now have permanent criminal arrest records, widely affecting their future employment, education, reputations, and professional careers, all because officers felt the need to be violent and threatened by a peaceful protest. Over the past couple of years, white police officers have grown more and more violent towards black people. Police have a civic duty to protect and serve, but large amounts of power and authority are sometimes abused.
It’s no secret that everyone holds their own opinion regarding the actions of police officers and other positions of authority within these past years, be it positive or negative. From the shootings of innocent and unarmed civilians to disciplinary action being taken against those that haven’t done anything unlawful, there’s rarely a day when the police force of the United States doesn’t find itself involved in some sort of controversy. No matter what side people find themselves supporting in these instances, be it the police or the civilian, it’s true that both sides can benefit from the use of these police body cameras. Police body cameras hold one main purpose and that’s to deteriorate the ever-present risk of unnecessary aggression on
Nevertheless, this proposal is submitted to request approval to pursue the black lives matter controversy for the purpose of this argumentative report. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at my email zamin9223@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon.
There have been numerous amounts of deaths and accusations between officers and the victims who have had an encounter with them. Many people a questioning whether they want to actually protect them or do these so called “crimes” have to do with a they color of skin. Police are "supposed to be protecting you, but you can't trust them anymore," (A TEXTBOOK CASE FOR BODY CAMERAS) which is true, for the reason being people do not know what goes down between a cop and a civilian. Although you may have witnesses, a small video clip of the encounter, and the statement from the cop but what has been told it not always the truth and what is seen from a screen does not show the full
The civil rights movement in the 1960s, lead by Martin Luther King Jr, was well executed compared to the black lives matter movement happening today. The Goals of the civil rights movement and the black lives matter movement are different, but they both come back to the same idea of equality. The major goals of the civil rights movement were to end segregation, equal access to jobs and housing, and fair voting rights. The black lives matter movement wants to end violent policing, the oppression of black people, and the racism in America (“About”). There is many reasons that the civil rights movement has had a larger effect on the government and their policy than the black lives matters have had.
To help understand this concept, by using three different sociological theories: Functionalism, Conflict, and Symbolic Interaction. Functionalism Functionalism is defined as “A theory that views society as a orderly and stable system with interconnected parts designed to meet the needs of individuals in a society” (Sociology Dictionary). Meaning that coming from a functionalism theorist point of view, Black Lives Matter is a movement that fits the need of African Americans. It’s their voice to as whole, to say this something that needs to happen.
This sadly shows how, today, in 2016, the Civil Rights Movement is still ongoing. The Black Lives Matter is an “ideological and political intervention” to help stop the murder of innocent people for the color of their skin. The Black Lives Matter movement gained more attention after the death of Michael Brown. Brown was an eighteen-year-old black boy who was killed, unjustifiably by a white police officer in St. Louis, Missouri in 2014. Through various social media websites and events the Black Lives Matter movement has become a well-known and very controversial
Different treatment is given for different group of people which violates civil rights. Black lives matter is a movement meant to stop anti-black police brutality, racial discrimination and injustice through speech which is protected by First Amendment. The main motive of black live matter is to get their right and get justice against inhuman behavior of white
There have been many movements in the United States in which African Americans have been the focal point for example the Selma March, the March on Washington, the civil rights movement, and even today the Black Lives Matter movement. Those movements have had a significant impact on the United States and still play a part in today’s society. Those movements still play a part in today’s society because without those movements there wouldn’t be a Black Lives Matter because African Americans wouldn’t have the courage to stand up a fight for their rights if it wasn’t for Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, or the many other activists that stood up for African-American rights. Selma and the March on Washington share a big relationship to the Black Lives Matter and they are just as important to the civil rights movement.
Black Lives Matter is a wide spread activist movement that campaigns against systematic racism and oppression towards black people. With the use of well known activist to initiate a strong ethos, informing the audience that just like Martin Luther King and the Black Panther Movement there 's always going to be dispute through the use of logos and feelings presented about oppression towards the black community to establish pathos, Sidner and
