COMPARATIVE STUDY ON GIFI WITH OTHER TECHNOLOGIES

*Rini Paul rinipaul20@gmail.com Department of computer science

Abstract- In today’s world, technology has changed from wired technology to wireless technology. By improving the recent technologies It give arise to a new technology that is GIFI technology.GIFI stands for Gigabit Wireless. It is the first transceiver that is integrated on a single chip that operates at 60GHz on CMOS process. This wireless transmission system is ten times faster than other technology. In this technology audio and video data can be transferred up to 5 gigabits per second ,its range is almost 10 meters, it consumes low …show more content…

BLUETOOTH Bluetooth[11] is the first wireless technology designed to connect devices to transmit data over short distances. Bluetooth is a networking technology. It is a low-powered, short range application. There are no cable connections between devices, and Bluetooth is to enable communication between all devices. It replaces a combination of serial and parallel cables, and infrared links. Bluetooth is a specification for Wireless Personal Area. Bluetooth’s main advantage is its ability to handle both data and voice transmissions continuosly. It is support one asynchronous data channel and three synchronous voice channels, or one channel supporting both voice and data. Synchronous links mainly used for voice transmission. Asynchronous is connectionless links it is mainly used for data transmission. Bluetooth’s hardware is integrated on a single chip. This hardware handles radio transmission and reception and required digital signal processing for the baseband protocol. Basics of Bluetooth is, Connection establishment and Concept of an ad-hoc piconet. When nodes are organized into small groups it is known as piconets. Every piconet has a main node called master, and other nodes in a piconet are known as slaves. If the node belongs to multiple piconets then it is known as bridge. A piconet can have at most 7 members. The Communication between …show more content…

and power consumption of 2mW.
C.No interference: It transmits the data with 60GHz millimeters wave spectrum; giving advantages over Wi-Fi.
D.High Security: Gi-Fi technology follows IEEE 802.15.3C standard (Open, international standard). This standard provides optional security in the link level and service level, it provides more security E.Low cost:
This technology utilizes low cost.sice its size is small.
F. Size and coverage: It uses 1mm wide antenna and 5mm square chip that is too small so it can be integrated in mobile devices. Also provides better coverage area.
Other features: This technology is highly portable and more flexible.

Advantage
A.Eliminating cable: This technology eliminates the use of cables to connect electronics devices, and can connect all other devices without wire that is connecting wirelessly for transmitting the data.
B. Low cost chip:
The chip embedded into Gi-Fi costs about $10 or less. Small design would allow cell phones and other small devices to add into this the technology.
C.Simplicity:
To overcome this problem Gi-Fi technology is used to provide simple connectivity. Therefore simplicity is one of the main features of this technology which provide solution to
