We started a body farm, for our school’s project, on September 11th, 2017. During this project we observed piglets decompose for about 15 days. The pigs were laid out on Sunday September 10th, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. for the observations on Monday. We started our actual observation on September 11th and we viewed them through September 25th on that Monday. We didn’t observe on the weekends at all, so there were some major changes on more a couple days more than others . Which decomposes faster, a piglet that is in its natural state, one that is burnt, one that is buried, and one that is buried in a wooden box? This is the first theory question that we had. My initial theory is that would be the piglet that is buried and not in a box. I come to …show more content…

This is theory question 2 that we had to answer. For my theory on this question initially I said that the pig that was in its natural state was going to decompose faster than the one in its clothes. My theory was found correct, because the pig in its natural state did decompose faster than the pig that had clothes on. The pig with clothes on more protected than the other pig, so flies didn’t get to it, so I found that it was slower to decompose. It wasn’t by much, but a little …show more content…

This is theory question 5 that we had to answer. For my initial theory I said that the one that has died of natural cause would die faster because it has already started to die inside. So I figured it would decompose faster than the other pigs. After observations I realized that the pig with a knife wound was actually the fastest pig to decompose. Then the pig with the gunshot wound was next. They were the pigs that had the first flies and maggots. I was surprised to see this reaction really. What is the succession of insects on a suspended piglet? This is theory question 6 that we had to answer. I said that the pigs on the ground would have a lot more on the pigs on the ground than in the air. For my answer, on this one, I kind of feel that they had an equal amount in some respects of bugs on them. For the pigs on the floor they had a lot of maggots on them and living in them. They also have some flies on it and it them as well, but the pigs in the air had normally way more flies on them then the pigs on the ground. The pigs in the air had almost 15 flies on it every
