Atticus even had evidence to show Mayella’s bruises are from her father beating her. Even with the evidence proving Tom’s innocence, the all-white jury sent him to jail. Later, Tom tried escaping prison, is shot, and killed. Bob Ewell decides that the judge and Atticus have disrespected him, and demands to take his revenge on them. He endangers Tom Robinson’s widow, tries to break into the judge’s house, and attacks Jem and Scout after a Halloween party. To Kill A Mockingbird Although Scout did not speak very much during this part of the book I think some of her comments and actions caused a colossal impact on how Jem responded to the dare. Jem, still a child, wants to look like he is capable of doing things right, being the second man of the house. It seems Jem feels like he has a moral obligation to be right in every way, and look strong in from of his younger friends, and sister. The fact that scout is younger, and is looking for a reaction drives Jem to do the act. SOme of scouts comments like “Always running.”

With their unbeknownst number of kids the Ewell brood, specifically Bob Ewell becomes jealous and outright angry that Atticus would oppose him in the court of law by representing Tom Robinson. Although against the odds Atticus feels empathetic towards the Ewells not necessarily Bob but instead for Mayella, he understands what she is being put through, Suffering through domestic abuse, and in court Atticus even goes so far as to state that he feels sorry for Mayella. To add to this he implies that the man truly guilty of beating Mayella is in the courtroom (Bob Ewell). This did nothing to calm Bob Ewell’s seething manner instead it only escalated it, and in an attempt to get back at atticus he tries to kill his children whom are saved by an unseen and unknown force which killed Mr. Ewell. The precursor towards this however was when Bob Ewell spit on Atticus but even through this Atticus was rational, he thought about it.
I predict that the kids are not going to meet Boo Radley. My first reason for this is that he is locked up. He is kept in prison at his house. He is in prison at his house for stabbing his dad with a scissors. The kids think that they keep Boo Radley chained to the bed most of the time.
First, the Town Council is able to get Boo home. When Boo stabs his father with a pair of scissors, he is sent to live in the courthouse basement because his father insists he did not do anything wrong, then “Miss Stephanie Crawford [says] some of the town council told Mr. Radley that if he [does not] take Boo back, Boo [will] die of mold from the damp” (Lee 14). Even though most of Maycomb is scared of Boo, his life is saved which he is then able to use to save Jem and Scout’s life. Another person, Atticus, tries to protect Boo’s personal space by telling the kids to leave him alone.
