As I was reading the book, I was still impressed by the calmness and the faintness of the book. I think Hope exists even in terrible situations. It’s a theme of ‘Number the stars’. Annemarie is so brave. It is much easier to be brave if you do not know everything. Her Uncle Henrik said to Annemarie like this: “That’s all that brave means-not thinking about the dangers. Just thinking about what you must do. Of course you were frightened. I was too, today. But you kept your mind on what you had to do. So did I.” I remembered the story ‘the Diary of Anne Frank’ as I am reading ‘Number the stars’. Frank's family, who lived in Amsterdam under German occupation in 1940, escaped the persecution of the Nazis and moved to a hideout behind his father's office. The diary was written while Anne lived with her parents, sister, and other four family members in a shelter with the Jews (June 1942 - August 1944). I found the process of growing the mind of the adolescent girl, the devastating criticism of the adult world, and the courage that stood firmly and unbroken in the midst of the plight. My neighbors, the people who can sacrifice for my
Number The Stars In 1943, Annemarie, Kriste and Ellen were running down a street in Copenhagen and Annemarie bumped into a soldier and the soldier screamed “Halte,” Why are you running.” Mama told Annemarie to go to Mrs.Hirsch’s store because Kirsti’s coat button had broken but it was closed when they went so she went home and told her mama that the store was closed, mama rushed to the Rosens. It was the New Years for the jews and the Rosens were going to Synagogue. The Rabbi told the congregation that the Nazis have taken the Synagogue lists of all the jews,so the Johansens had to act like Ellen was apart of their family.
The book “Number the Stars” by Lois Lowry shares the main conflict in the novel "Number the Stars” is the occupation of Denmark by Nazis during World War II and their capture of Jews to send to concentration camps. The Johansen family takes in a young Jewish girl, Ellen, and risks their lives to protect her from the Nazis. Two climatic events occur in the novel, one were soldiers search the Johansen's house and another where Annemarie, their daughter, narrowly avoids being detained by Nazi soldiers on her way to deliver a package to a man helping Jews escape to Sweden. Secondary conflicts arise from the Nazi occupation, such as characters losing jobs, homes, and family members while trying to escape or help Jews escape. Ellen also struggles
Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl living in Amsterdam during the occupation by the Nazis. She was forced to go into hiding above her father's work for two years to avoid prison. During her time in hiding, she kept a diary and wrote about her experience. Frank writes about her loving and compassionate family and also mentions how she has built new relationships with the other families in the house. In her diaries, Frank frequently emphasizes the value of family, emphasizing how her trials were made easier by the presence of those she loved who understood what she was going through.
In the Freedom Writers Diary, the authors focus on the topic of the reality of what they have to deal with in their everyday world. Their teacher Mrs. Gruwell inspired them throughout their high school years by teaching them that it is possible for each and every one of them to change. They write with an uplifting and hopeful outlook on the world even if it not realistic in their present circumstances. In their writing, they establish an effective use of pathos by writing about their own lives and how they connect to others and us by using the selection of detail, metaphors, and allusions. Through these devices, we come to the idea that even though teenager’s in today’s world are faced with many hardships, they do not have to succumb to them.
I will prove myself brave when they think I am weak.” (E. Lockart
“Who would ever think that so much went on in the soul of a young girl?” Anne Marie Frank used hope to stay positive during the reign of Hitler. Throughout the whole book I read several examples of how Anne Frank was hopeful the war would end and that Jewish people would again be able to live freely. She frequently talked about how life was going to get better because the English were going to

At the times of World War II, conflict was at its finest. This was a devastating period of time, and a time Anne Frank had to live through. On page 10 in The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne speaks to us saying, “He heard Hitler’s marching gangs sing that horrible song, ‘when Jew blood spurts from the knife,’ and he knew it was time to leave.” The Frank family’s only option would be to hide, and all they could do is hope for
Anne was seeing the good in the really awful situation that she was in at the time. This explains how people are truly good at heart because she is trying to reassure herself and others that everything will work out and be ok in the end. Anne says “I think the world is going through a phase, the way I was with Mother. It’ll pass, maybe not for hundreds of years, but someday . . . “ Despite everything that is happening Anne still believes that it will be over soon and that everything will be ok.
Many philosophers and psychologists claim that fear and courage go hand in hand. Ultimately before completing a courage act one must face their fears yet persevere and act. These actions are results of heroes following their hearts and persevering in the face of adversity. Courage is incredibly important to understand when reading medieval timepieces since it helps us see the inner characteristics of a
It was on her 13th birthday that she got a diary. In her diary, she wrote about her friendships, crushes and her academic performance at school. After the Germans invaded the Netherlands in 1940, the Franks, another family called the van Daans and Mr Russell hid in a small secret annex above Otto Frank’s, Anne’s father’s office.
At age 13, Anne Frank received her diary for her birthday during the time of the Holocaust. Anne was too young to be experiencing such a tragic event, but she found ways to cope with it. She wrote about every event that occurred during her time in the Secret Annex with 8 other occupants. Anne was very intelligent and surely good at writing. Anne could change the emotion of any event.
