Do you wish you can restart your whole life. The book I read was called Restart. The genre of this book is fiction. I chose this book because it looked very interesting. It was about a middle schooler named Chase Ambrose who fell of the roof of his house and got amnesia.
In doing so the characters were punished for not conforming to both the school of Welton and their parents. In the movie many characters showed traits of transcendentalism, for example Neil Perry showed many signs of nonconformity towards his father by not listening to his command to become a doctor. Knox Overstreet showed during the film human potential by trying to believe in himself and trying to get a girl from another school. Finally Todd Anderson who experienced truth through observation by attending the Dead Poets meeting and later by joining the activities the Society does. If you look hard enough in any book, movie, or play you will always find some form of transcendentalism every single time and that will never change.
Comparably like Homer my parents haven’t been the most supportive of my career choice in medicine, for instance ever since my years of adolescence my parents had consistently apprised I was soft hearted, and that I wouldn’t be competent to face the emotional or physical pain of others, let alone help treat injuries. As my father has regularly opined “Gurpreet, you shouldn’t be something in medicine because you won’t be able to handle the blood.” This quote has always traveled with me for every assignment I have handed in, and every exam I have taken. It astonishes me how much the support of parents is imperative in being gratified with what you want your career to be. For an example, last year my brother had been in a car mishap where he was hospitalized for a month, when we used to visit him my parents wouldn't allow me to see him.
War is a harsh reality that is inflicted upon the unwilling through the “need” of it’s predecessors and those whom wish it. All Quiet on The Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is about 19 year old Paul and his friends in the “Second Company”. Even though they are just out of school age, they have already seen things that many could not bear to even think about. Eventually, all of his friends die, and even Paul too, dies. Remarque uses diction and syntax as literary devices to express his anti-war theme, or lesson.
Odysseus did not want to go war because his son, Telemachus, was just born but he went anyways. Odysseus’s abyss occurred when he sees the prophecy and saw that his mom died and everyone was still grieving. In The Odyssey there were many initiations but the most significant one was, when Odysseus and his men find the cyclops and they are not able to escape. To enable the men to escape Odysseus gets the cyclops drunk, then stabs him in the eye, and then escapes riding on the bottom of the sheep. Finally his return was when Odysseus returns to Ithica he finds that other men are trying to take over his throne.
You can’t be in the military until you are 18 years old but in the novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card there is a much different approach on that topic. This novel follows the life of Ender Wiggin. Ender has a special ability and is very advanced for his young age. Ender grew up being the 3rd child, which is not very normal for a family in this time period, and his brother bullies him for it. Ender is chosen by the government to join the military.
Moreover, he seemed to have slight doubtful views on his life since his father passed away. He would always hide it with a very mocking attitude and also says funny things with serious and calm face expressions. He actually opened up more when he met Hannah when the monsters from the Stine’s book conquered the school. Zachary becomes more brave and courageous. Towards the climax he took the charge of keeping the monsters away.
He is very friendly to people Stilson Was a mean big kid. Bullies Ender a lot He comes in with a big group Physical he fights Ender but he got killed Well bullying could be a human right He fights Ender This is Ender’s justification for wrecking Stilson – to send a message to all the bullies in school. Bullying still exists in the future He is very violent Mother and Father Doesn’t really care for Ender, wants him to have religion. Not very important to story To get Graff away from his son Not really since they are his parents
It was during World War 2 and no adults survived the crash. It all started out well for the boys. Then they started to disagree about little things and throughout the story things started to decline and the group ends up separating into 2 tribes. The 2 tribes are run by Jack and Ralph. Things start to get violent and the boys slowly started turning towards savagery.
Unwind by Neal Shusterman -a New York Times Bestselling Author of The Schwa Was Here- is an interesting read. It’s about a boy, Connor, whose parents want to have him unwound. Unwinding is when a person between the age thirteen and eighteen is cut apart, but is still alive; these parts are given to people in need of a new body part. The novel covers Connor’s journey as he runs from the police to avoid being cut apart by the government. This book has many things to like, things to dislike, and connections to discover, although in my opinion few would enjoy it.
The Command School authorities made the better choice for humanity's sake at the expense of Ender. What they chose was the intended goal of Command School, and it also saved the most people. Their decision might not be free from ethical questioning, but in the end, it was best for humanity and hence justified. In a utilitarian perspective, Colonel Graff and Major Anderson did nothing wrong.
