The team with five members started to work on a tight schedule and a limited budget. The main task we had taken for about two weeks was receiving applications, arranging transportation and planning for some programs for the trip such as cross-country and skiing. Rolling up our sleeves, we referred to a memo for last years’ trips. Although the most of the part in the memo was helpful, I found some processes were inefficient and time-consuming. They had daily meetings in person, and adhered to renting a bus spending considerable part of the budget without proper reasons. Thus, I made a suggestion for meeting daily online at night so that each member could do their duties adjusting their own progress, giving them responsibilities and autonomy. Also the idea that some members already had their own cars came across my mind and I proposed a plan to make use of their cars, instead of renting a bus. To our surprise, we completed all the tasks two days before the due date, saving almost 20 percent of the
All the hard work finally paid off. Without communication, all of these would never have happened. Communication is always useful, when trying coordinate a team. We must have constant communication to know what to fix and help the members if needed
“You don’t lead by pointing and telling people some place to go. You lead by going to that place and making a case.” This quote makes the point that to be an effective leader, it is vital to be independent and have the ability to take action. These actions are most effective as a leader when they are used to help the citizens under this leadership. Authoritative leadership is effective in some circumstances, however, for the most part, collaborative leadership is the strongest way to lead because at times it is necessary to exercise control, power and fear in order to maintain decency and respect.

“The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students,” as reported by nhs.us. I am truly honored to be part of this organization, as are some of my classmates. Although there are many requirements when determining who is chosen for NHS and who isn’t, the main requirements are academics, character, leadership, and service. I personally believe I fulfill all of those requirements. One of my top priorities throughout high school is to earn good grades, which can be difficult when I’m involved in many things.
My counselor group did not work well together, rather, we were completely disconnected. Two out of our five counselors were deemed “campers with more power” by our directors, and one week, our “chief” left on a missions trip. That week was fraught with challenges. In short, the two “powerful campers” didn’t do their delegated jobs properly and it was difficult to make progress. We had to have a meeting with the camp directors in the middle of the week.
Leadership is the ability of one to organize or lead a group of people. A leader should be respectful, a leader is bound to know what goal is attempted to be reached. My favorite leadership quote is by Chris Hadfield, “Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts. It 's about keeping yourself and people around you focused on a goal and motivated to do the best to achieve goals in life, especially when the stakes are high and the consequences matter greatly. It is about laying the groundwork for others ' success, and finally standing back and letting them shine.”
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. Introduction Chesapeake IT Consulting is a modern day information technology consulting company aiming to provide the best possible support to all customers. Focusing so much time and resources implementing new information technology systems to facilitate the ease of everyday duties for their customer, may have placed Chesapeake IT Consulting (CIC) itself on the backburner. In terms of utilizing its own IT system for hiring purposes, CIC seems to be stuck utilizing a manual process, not a good look for an IT consulting service. The high turnover rate of employees can be hard to keep up with at times. Implementing a new information technology system into the hiring process for CIC is a necessary step for a brighter future.
At our first few meetings, team building was key. In an effort to overcome the initial shyness, we took the time to understand and get to know our fellow team members; in doing so, establishing a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone to share their ideas whist too ensuring everyone felt appreciated. Getting the team to gel was essential for the team to get results. We met at regular intervals, usually weekly, to discuss and reassess our progress. However, finding the time to meet proved quite difficult, between everyone’s busy schedules and with the plenty of other assignments we all had going on simultaneously.

My interest in Organizational Leadership began at a young age, before I knew what organizational leadership was or why it was important. From a young teenage cadet in Civil Air Patrol to a manager of a global team today, leadership has been the core element. To succeed as a manager in a globalized world means understanding leadership as it relates to the organization, international groups, local groups and understanding how to bring them under one umbrella. Leadership is my past, present and future. It defined me as a child at age 10 when a friend of mine whom I was at a camp with lost her father and we needed to pack and leave.
