Strapline - Poor Gordon Ramsay. All anyone wants to talk about is his expletive-riddled rants, when we really should be focusing on his skills in the kitchen. After all, the only reason Ramsay gets so hot under the collar is because he refuses to compromise his passion for good food.

Text - At the turn of the millennium, London had a wave of wait-list worthy restaurants that were part of the Cool Britannia phenomenon. All of a sudden, this city which was once teased for its stodgy food had become a world leader in innovative cuisine. Ramsay was a big part of this movement and his influence continues today.

With the opening of Bread Street Kitchen earlier this year, Singapore diners can now revel in Ramsay’s brand of simple, satisfying fare. With big expectations, and big appetites to match, we arrived at the rustic, industrial-style doors of Bread Street Kitchen for a midday treat. We started with the Roasted Veal Carpaccio, which came with dill pickles, quail’s egg and tuna dressing (S$26). It had a perfect texture and was full of flavour.
