HEADLINE: DPS First Responders Sport T-Shirts to Support Breast Cancer Awareness October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The annual campaign aims to increase awareness and encourage people to get tested for the disease. The distinction originally began as a weeklong event in October 1985. Today, regions around the world recognize the month as a sign of support. The color pink and adorning a pink ribbon are universally known as symbols to support the cause. Various organizations, such as the National Football League (NFL), allow players to wear pink-colored equipment. On Oct. 23, DFW Police and Paramedics collaborated to wear special-made t-shirts with the iconic pink ribbon and Fire and EMS shield on the front and the words “DFW Airport
A FFA Jacket isn’t just a jacket, it means your part of something bigger than yourself and you have an opportunity to make things happen. When you represent your chapter there is a certain amount of pride and an unlimited amount of possibilities you can have. Whether it’s from partaking in contests or being an officer, there is so much you can do in between. It also represents everything we get taught about FFA; Brotherhood, Leadership and Respect. Those qualities are important and I believe they are incorporated into the jacket.
We decided to hold a protest in front of Mayor Wilson’s house to change his mind. Luci made picket signs that said,”Let the pink in the field.” We would stand outside of Mayor Wilson’s house and yell our chants. On the third day of protesting, Major Wilson came out of his house. He said,“Okay,

In her essay, "Breast Cancer No. 2," from the Readings for Writers textbook, Margaret Overton explores her experience of performing an operation on a cancer patient who has a similar background like her. The methods of development in this personal experience go to explain the emotions and thoughts Overton encountered during this specific procedure. Through the use of compare/contrast, narration, and an emphatic statement, the author is able to present her thesis, "Everyone's tolerance is different, so I titrate the drugs to the desired effect," (465) to describe her struggle on her experience of having to keep away from her emotions and remain professional during her patient's operation. Throughout her essay, Margaret Overton goes into
Color Guards’ Amazing History! People know that during half time at football games two bands play and in the band there are the color guard. We have seen it on the news about two years ago when it was first reported, somebody was offended by the Washington Redskins NFL logo. Which cause an uproar with people finding every Indian logo offensive, from youth teams to high school, college, and then professional teams. Then the lawsuits began with the Washington Redskins, according to Dan Snyder, owner of the Redskins, told ESPN writer Steve Wulf, “The name of our football team is the name of our team. And I would like to encourage you to do and everyone else to do is just look at history, and understand where the name came from, understand that it means … honor, it means respect, it means pride. And it’s that simple” (Wulf).
When I think of my best accomplishment the verse from James 3:5 sticks to me. " A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire". Being a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club (BCA) for five years at my school and president for the last three has been a journey that I can 't quite put into words. I remember joining the club as a young eighth grader wanting to learn more and do what I could to help as I saw my aunt struggle with it.
Although this is an accurate description of the logo if taken in a literal sense, there is a concealed meaning behind this word choice. Just before the use of “rainbow”, Anna Mae says she felt “bowed
This past week, Josh Norman, an immensely popular and talented football player, became a free agent and decided to sign with a new team. That new team just happened to be the Washington Redskins, who rewarded him with a guarantee of over 50 million dollars. What I don’t understand, however, is how a professional sports team is called the ‘Redskins’. Growing up, I have always been a huge fan of sports, both as a spectator and a participant. Starting in the 7th grade, we were required to wear a shirt and tie to school the day of a game.
Across the back it read “Don’t make me backhand you”. It was a clever line that was sarcastic and tied in with the sport, but had caused an uproar at our school. When imagining a backhand slap, most commonly an angry male figure comes to mind. The message was misinterpreted and not approved by many, which resulted in the team no longer being able to wear their shirts. The lesson learned here is that people should be more aware of the generalizations genders have before making comments that may offend certain groups.
Secondly, Faith’s pink bow is symbolic because the color pink is generally associated with innocence or purity. At the beginning of the story, Hawthorne mentions Faith’s ribbon multiple time expressing the fact that Faith is youthful and happy. Later, he reintroduces Faith’s ribbons when Young Goodman Brown is in the forest struggling with his doubts about the

In today 's society, especially on social-media, it is seen that many young women are constantly bashing and belittling each other over minuscule things, such as clothing or boys. I want to make a difference locally and globally, and spread the importance of uplifting and empowering other women, and to display what a simple act of kindness can
