The United States of America abounds with beautiful scenery, amazing natural resources, and fascinating animals. One of these states is Alaska. Alaska has an amazing ecosystem that hold many creatures. The state of Alaska provides an abundant habitat for numerous species of mammals, fish, and birds. Many species of mammals reside in Alaska. One is of the bear species, the black bear. Black bears have a medium to heavy frame with large ears and powerful limbs. The black bear has a coat that can differentiate from brown, cinnamon, blond, grey-blue, and of course, black. They can adapt to their environment easily but are normally found in forested areas. It has a diet that consists of fruits, buds, berries, nut, insects, and food lest by humans. …show more content…

The brown bear have several races that are recognized, such as, Grizzly, Kodiak, Alaskan,and many more. All have the same features, such as, long claws, a distinctive shoulder hump, and a concave facial profile accompanied with small ears. They have white tips on their fur that give them a grizzled look. Brown bears are generally herbivores, eating grasses, roots, bulbs, tubers, berries, nuts, and salmon. The male brown bear weighs twice as much as the female brown bear, getting to be up to two thousand pounds. Lake trouts have silver-like skin with small cream-yellow irregular spots. The males have a more pointed snout and are slightly longer. They can be recognized from other fish by their deeply forked tail. The maximum weight is one hundred and two pounds and the maximum age is sixty two years. They have a diet that is made up of zooplankton, insect larvae, small crustaceans, clams, snails, leeches, numerous kinds of fish, mice, shrews, and even young birds (¨All Animals¨ 2). Alaska is home to two breeds of eagle: bald and golden. The bald eagle is Alaska's largest bird of prey that has a wingspan of seven and a half feet and can weight up to forteen pounds. Unlike other animals, the female is larger than the males. Eagles use nests to lay and hatch eggs which will produce their young. However, not all young make it through the sibling rivalry and the weakest is killed. Fish are the main part of an eagles diet but they also eat clams, crabs, and small mammals (¨Wildlife in Alaska¨
