Brutus was a close friend to Caesar, and he didn’t kill Caesar because he didn’t like him. He did love Caesar, but his love for Rome was stronger and he didn’t want Caesar to ruin the great city he had even said “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves.” (III.ii). Brutus thought that Caesar was too ambitious and that would have ruined Rome, so he wanted the best for the citizens of Rome and killed Julius Caesar.
The Book called the Odyssey is centered around the hero Odysseus. The part about this story that makes it hard to talk about is the debate around whether Odysseus is a hero or not. Many Literary scholars of The Odyssey by Homer have argued that Odysseus is not a hero, closer examination shows that he clearly was a hero because he led them to victory in the Trojan War, he turned his men back into actual men, and he even went to the underworld where few to none have escaped freely. The reason this is debated a lot is because of the choices he made during the war and the journey back home. To understand why he was a hero the story must be known.
Veterans have extreme value to our society. Everybody needs to listen to and follow what Chris Kyle stated,” What veterans don’t need sympathy they need to be treated like the men they are: equals, heroes, and people who still have tremendous value to
Julius Caesar once said, “I love the name of honor, more than I fear death”. When Caesar said that, he stated that there may be moments in a person's life where their honor is questioned, but in the end, only the person who would die to preserve their good name are truly worth honoring. Arthur Miller use The Crucible to portray John Proctor as an honorable man who made a few mistakes to have people question his honor. In The Crucible, John Proctor is shown to be a respectable, honest, and kind hearted man.
I believe that Mark Antony gave more of a persuasive speech because Antony and Caesar were friends, he sounded like he actually cared about Caesar and that he actually wanted to tell people about Caesar and how good of a guy he was. Always, I think Mark Antony speech is better than Brutus’s because Antony actually put effort into his speech about Caesar when Brutus was one of the persons who killed Caesar. So that shows that Brutus really didn’t care about Caesar. “Men have become brutish beasts and lost their reason.”
Julius Caesar to some he was a great man to others “he doth bestride the narrow world. Like a colossal.” It was this conflict that brought upon Caesar’s death and Rome’s civil war. While the plebeians loved Caesar many noblemen such as Cassius did not. When they killed him they didn’t realize how much it would affect Rome.
At Julius Caesar’s funeral, Antony questions the credibility of the conspirators and along with that, he expresses his love and admiration for Caesar. He then goes on to say,” he was my friend, faithful and just to me, but Brutus says he was ambitious, And Brutus is an honorable man”(Act 3, Sc.1, Ln.13-15). In this statement it is prevalent that from the beginning Antony’s motivation is to persuade the crowd to bring justice to Caesar’s murder and preserve the greatness of Rome. Then, Antony questions the judgement of the commoners as they had loved and respected Caesar and when his death came, they turned their backs on him. “What cause withholds you, then, to mourn for him?- O judgement, thou art fled to brutish beasts, and men have lost their reason!--Bear with me; my heart is in the coffin there with Caesar.
They might conclude as Caesar being shown as a bad leader only by Cassius’ explanation. Just because Cassius disliked him does not mean he would not be truthful about Caesar’s characteristics. Cassius is the one who talked about Caesar’s weaknesses to Brutus. He also wrote letters to Brutus from other people to show how Caesar is imperfect to be a leader. Others might support Caesar by saying he loved all the citizens based on the will.
They passed this story down and it encourages others. I 'm sure people told this story to show how brave one person can be. Although Beowulf was a classical hero he probably would have done these things without his strength. It was just what he destined to do with his life. Just like he was destined to go down in
Brutus in julius caesar was truly an honorable man in my opinion because, all he really wanted was the best for Rome;in other words Brutus is willing to do whatever it takes even if it means sacrificing others close to him to strengthen Rome. Also Brutus has the least amount of blame for the murder; he felt the most guilt about caesar 's death because he is visited by his ghost. Most characters in the play don 't act honorable and they only want Caesars death to benefit themselves. Like Brutus, my Grandfather is honorable;he was an army
Major Rawls doesn’t know Owen as well as John or Hester but yet he still thinks that everything he does is too great for the world. It’s ironic because Major Rawls wasn’t a very good person yet him saying that says something amazing about Owen (611). The following is a couplet from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar: “Cowards die many times before their deaths; / The valiant never taste of death but once.”
In Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, Brutus, is noble. Even though at times Brutus makes poor decisions in the moment, he still tries his best to consider the good of Rome and the people living there when making all of them. Brutus has honesty, decency, a good sense of morality of what is right and wrong therefore he is righteous. He believes that honor is the most important characteristic a man can have.
He was the successor to Trajan and in many ways kept with his reformer mind set and peaceful outlook in life. Unlike Trajan and even Augustus, he chose to keep the Roman Empire smaller rather than continue to expand. This doesn’t mean that he could not protect Rome and its citizens, he was in fact well versed in dealing with the military. However, he did have the similar problem that Trajan had had before, and that was the Jewish revolts. They were worse under Hardian due to his Greco-Roman culture push on the people, but that still doesn’t take away from the fact that he was an amazing emperor.
