A detailed account will be provided and information will be built upon from the previous task. This report will include an analysis of the previous assignment in which political, legal, social and technological factors were discussed and how they affected selected businesses. An in depth explanation about how these factors affect businesses, Carphone Warehouse and Dogs Trust will be given.

A factor which affects Carphone Warehouse is political factors. For example a change in government would affect the business because they would need to make sure that they are complying with what laws may have been changed regarding businesses. For example as mentioned in the previous assignment Rose Gold became a popular colour among young people and so Apple decided to add a Rose Gold colour to their iPhone 6 collection. This affects Carphone Warehouse because on the release of the iPhone 6 with their new colour people, especially young people, would want to be the first to have the new trend before it gets sold out. Carphone Warehouse would have an increase in sales on the day of Apple releasing their product which would give them an increase in profit and enables them to buy more stock from their suppliers due to the popular demand of their product. Another thing that affects the business which is to do with the ageing population is older people also having phones however these phones need to be adjusted in order to suit the needs of older users. Carphone Warehouse need to make sure that they stock a range of products which includes phones suitable for older users. Whilst they may not cost a lot the business need to make sure that they have something for everyone. A phone which may not be popular but is specifically designed for older people is the Doro PhoneEasy 612, which Carphone Warehouse have decided to sell. This benefits the business as there is a gap in the market for phones for older people and so with the business deciding to sell this one they have more of a chance of selling them than their competitors who may not sell this brand. The phone is specifically designed for older users as the Carphone Warehouse website describes the features as such “large buttons make it easy to type and dial, large screen has special clear text making reading easier and designed for older users”.
